The world has only one you, and you were made to SHINE! Like an athletic coach, I apply my considerable training, experience, and creativity to help you carve out the steps to get from where you are to where you want to be, providing you support, accountability, and structure along the way. I provide coaching to individuals, families, and organizations facing a variety of challenges both in the US and around the world.

My seminary training and clinical experience equipped me with expertise in both theology and psychology for an integrated approach to total wellness.

As a licensed counselor, I also understand that sometimes we're just trying to keep our heads above water. For my counseling clients, I provide support and feedback to help them strengthen areas of their identity and process places of pain so that they can move through to healing. My seminary training and clinical experience equipped me with expertise in both theology and psychology for an integrated approach to total wellness. I look forward to having an ongoing helping relationship in a mobile culture so that, wherever life takes you, I am available to walk alongside you.

First session

The first session can be daunting - paperwork and particulars have to be done. Despite this, in a first session with me clients can expect that I am interested in getting to know them, and they will leave the first session feeling like they just spent time with someone who truly wants to understand and help them.

Strengths

Past clients have told me that I ask them very good questions that cause them to think about things differently. Ultimately, I do not have the answers to whatever problems arise in my clients' lives, but after 15 years of practice, I am confident that, working together, we can find them!

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone willing to be an equal partner in discovering the way forward. People who are open, engaged, who show up, and who do the work will find success working with me.

Treatment methods

Existential

While I am eclectic in my therapeutic approaches, in my experience, discovering who we are and where we fit in the world is foundational to our identity formation.

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

Used to address specific areas of dissatisfaction with one's life, I use brief therapy to support a client as he or she evaluates their areas of strength. Capitalizing on these strengths, the client develops strategies to overcome obstacles to becoming their best self.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

How we think about our lives greatly informs how we feel about ourselves, others, and our world. I help clients identify and address areas of problematic thinking which, in turn, impacts how they feel.

Christian Counseling

While I am happy to work with individuals from any faith group, I am a practicing Christian. If my client want to address their areas of difficulty from this faith perspective, I am equipped to do so. I am an ordained minister and served as an Army chaplain for over a decade, and this is an area of practice where I have a great deal of expertise.

I like the fact that Kate is a Christian but she is a great communicator and she lats me ramble but questions or challenges me when I need it.
