My name is Nadine Thompson, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. I earned my Master of Social Work degree, specializing in Clinical Practice, from Smith College School of Social Work in 1991. I also have post-graduate certification in Addiction counseling, multicultural practice, DBT, and Couples and Family Therapy. I've worked in many different settings with individuals and families who have a variety of personal issues such as depression/anxiety, stress, family problems, trauma/abuse, addiction, relationships/parenting, and more. Over the past 30 years as a clinician, my experience has taught me that the most important aspect of counseling by far is the rapport, connection, and comfort you feel with your therapist. Recently, I have come to really see the value in being able "to hold space" for clients to express their deepest feelings and possibly find the answers and direction that they need as they become more self-aware. We all want to be able to share our personal truths and be accepted and understood. I believe in the power of “telling our stories”, as a pathway to healing and resilience. Our work together may include you being able to see yourself and those around you more clearly and develop tools and strategies for creating change in your life.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly two decades of experience supporting individuals, families, and communities through a wide range of life challenges. I earned my PhD in Clinical Social Work and Supervision from Walden University in 2026. I earned my Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University in 2008, after completing my Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Psychology in 2004. My academic journey also includes two years at Florida State University and an Addictions Certificate from the University of Michigan, which I received in 2015. After graduating, I returned to my hometown of Detroit, Michigan, where I became licensed and began practicing as a social worker. Throughout my career, I have worked as a therapist, crisis manager, and adjunct professor; roles that have allowed me to develop a well-rounded, real-world understanding of the issues people face in everyday life. My work has been guided by a strong commitment to strengthening both interpersonal and intrapersonal awareness as a pathway to meaningful change. I believe that growth happens when individuals feel understood, supported, and equipped with practical tools to navigate life’s complexities. Through my work with individuals and families across the lifespan, I strive to approach each person with compassion, curiosity, and respect, supporting emotional, mental, and physical well-being at every stage of human development.

Have you tried therapy but just didn’t get anywhere? New to therapy and not sure what to look for? Have a great life but feeling unfulfilled, having trouble navigating important relationships, or experiencing strong feelings that seem to come out of nowhere? I’ve worked with clients to explore these and similar issues in the many years I’ve provided therapy. I have an uncanny ability to gently and compassionately challenge what may be happening, often leading to insight and a new found ability to make real and lasting changes so you can focus on what matters most to you: your family, your education, your career, your mental well-being. Whether you are dealing with Relationship/friendship issues, parenting challenges, workplace issues or unresolved conflicts, I listen with an understanding ear. I help people address intense anxiety, ADHD, and mild depression even when most components in life seem to be going quite well. Sometimes things aren’t working because, well, they’re not working. My clients include people from various backgrounds and situations, from intact families to those estranged or low/no contact in family status. I see clients employed as teachers, nurses, research scientists, a dentist, a CEO, an HR executive, a cheese monger, both new and seasoned “stay-at-home” care-givers and many people studying in college, graduate programs, or obtaining post-graduate degrees. Whoever you are, from whatever background, I listen intently to your story and can help bring awareness into what may be obstacles to living a peaceful, serene, healthy life. As different as people are, I have discovered that some of our patterns and dynamics are very much the same. You don’t have to carry your emotional pain all on your own. I can help.

Motherhood is a profound journey marked by both beauty and upheaval. Whether your path to this moment has been long-anticipated or unexpected, the transition into motherhood often brings a whirlwind of emotions. Anxiety and depression during pregnancy and the postpartum period are more common than many realize, with maternal depression being the leading complication of childbirth. The shift from your pre-motherhood identity to caring for a newborn can be one of the toughest transitions you’ll ever experience. As a dedicated mental health professional, I am passionate about supporting individuals through some of life's most significant and challenging transitions. I offer various approaches, including talk therapy, art therapy, mindfulness and meditation practices, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). These methods are designed to help you express your feelings, redefine your identity, and find a sense of balance and well-being in this new chapter of your life.

You are capable, dependable, and often the person others rely on. But constant stress, worry, and responsibilities can leave you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally exhausted. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, work-life imbalance, and difficulty setting boundaries. I also specialize in supporting professionals, caregivers, leaders, and high-achieving adults experiencing burnout and high-functioning anxiety. My approach is supportive, practical, and solution-focused, helping you gain clarity, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful change. With over 14 years of clinical experience across healthcare systems, private practice, and community settings, I understand how prolonged pressure and responsibility can quietly impact emotional well-being. My name is Glenroy Bristol. I am an English-speaking Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. For the past 18+ years. My approach to therapy is collaborative, evidence-based, and deeply centered on helping clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional balance, and practical tools for lasting change. As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist in private practice, I work with individuals, couples, and families to identify the patterns of thinking, behavior, and emotional responses that may be contributing to distress, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, low self-esteem, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges. I believe that thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients recognize unhelpful thought patterns, challenge distorted beliefs, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding to life’s challenges. My therapeutic style is supportive, structured, goal-oriented, and compassionate, and it also encourages accountability, personal growth, and emotional resilience. I specialize in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress management difficulties, trauma-related concerns, relationship conflict, identity struggles, adjustment challenges, grief, self-defeating patterns, and difficulties related to life transitions. I also work with couples to improve communication, rebuild trust, strengthen emotional connection, and develop healthier relational dynamics. My approach is culturally sensitive, client-centered, and grounded in respect, empathy, and professionalism. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore difficult emotions while building healthier ways of coping and functioning.

You are here hoping to find that therapist who stands out to you because you want to find someone who can help you. The search can be overwhelming for some. Most of the profiles of therapists are going to say similar things. Most of which should be standard like brakes on a car. I cannot promise I'm the right one for you. Here is what I can tell you about my approach. I believe in being practical which means I will not use a lot of psycho-babble or fancy strategies. I have a tendency to be blunt. My wife says I'm the "bluntest politest man" she has ever met. I'm going to be real with you. I love couples/marriage counseling, and that is my main focus. However, about half of my clients have always been individuals. Some people just need a place to vent. Others need help solving a problem, and most people need a little of both. I know therapy might be a little intimidating or even scary to some. Try to think of it as a massage for your brain. It's a place where you can say whatever you want guilt-free.

I’m a seasoned therapist with extensive experience supporting children, teens, and parents across school, community mental health, and addiction treatment settings. My approach is grounded in years of helping individuals, families, and groups navigate life’s challenges with compassion and evidence-based care. I specialize in helping young people (ages 10–21) better understand themselves, identify their needs, and build practical skills that support emotional well-being, confidence, and resilience. My work emphasizes addiction prevention and empowering youth to navigate life’s challenges with greater self-awareness and balance. Many of the young people I work with have been diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety, or depression, and may struggle with self-esteem, peer relationships, or challenges at school and home. Together, we set meaningful treatment goals and work toward creating lasting, positive change in their daily lives. While much of my work focuses on youth, I also work with parents navigating the transitions of parenthood, supporting children with mental health or neurodevelopmental diagnoses (such as ADHD), and addressing the impact of trauma or substance use within the family system.

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Massachusetts. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Massachusetts from Springfield to Cape Cod! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Massachusetts.

Yes! If you use United Medical Resources you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have United Medical Resources you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
