Motherhood is a profound journey marked by both beauty and upheaval. Whether your path to this moment has been long-anticipated or unexpected, the transition into motherhood often brings a whirlwind of emotions. Anxiety and depression during pregnancy and the postpartum period are more common than many realize, with maternal depression being the leading complication of childbirth. The shift from your pre-motherhood identity to caring for a newborn can be one of the toughest transitions you’ll ever experience. As a dedicated mental health professional, I am passionate about supporting individuals through some of life's most significant and challenging transitions. I offer various approaches, including talk therapy, art therapy, mindfulness and meditation practices, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). These methods are designed to help you express your feelings, redefine your identity, and find a sense of balance and well-being in this new chapter of your life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session with me is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust and understanding. Here's what you can generally expect: Introduction and Background We'll start with a warm introduction where I'll share a bit about myself, my approach to therapy, and what you can expect from our sessions. I'll also invite you to share what brings you to therapy and any specific concerns or goals you have. Assessment and Discussion I'll ask some questions to better understand your current situation, including your mental, emotional, and physical health. This might include discussing your personal history, significant life events, and any challenges you're currently facing. If you're comfortable, we may also talk about any previous experiences with therapy or support. Exploring Goals and Expectations We'll discuss what you hope to achieve through therapy, whether it's managing anxiety, coping with postpartum challenges, or navigating a life transition. Setting clear goals helps us both stay focused and ensures that our work together is aligned with your needs and aspirations. Creating a Plan Based on our conversation, we'll outline a plan for our future sessions. This might include discussing the frequency of our meetings, specific techniques or approaches that might be helpful, and any immediate steps you can take to start feeling better. Questions and Next Steps I encourage you to ask any questions you might have—whether it's about the therapy process, my approach, or anything else on your mind. We'll also discuss the logistics, such as scheduling future sessions and handling any administrative details. The first session is really about making sure you feel comfortable and understood. It's the beginning of a collaborative process where we work together to support your mental wellness journey.
