New to Grow
Congratulations on prioritizing your mental health! I provide an open-minded, affirming and eclectic approach that combines elements from CBT, DBT and narrative therapies for an individualized experience. I am here to help people to identify ways to align their lives with their values, increase awareness of their needs and strengths, improve coping skills & relationships, and simply increase joy. My personal demeanor is a combination of strong clinical assessment skills, awkward humor, and a healthy balance of both optimism and realism. I believe that the inner child is present in everyone, so I work with people of all ages and I enjoy the variety. With adults I can provide care that is gender and neurodiversity affirming, sex positive and kink aware . My approach with children is focused more in age-appropriate trauma informed modalities.
Adults- We will begin our time together with simple conversation, clarifying what your vision for wellness is, and what is getting in the way. We will move at your pace. This is your journey. I will provide guidance, navigation and rerouting as necessary. Young children- We will begin by clarifying your family's values, assessing your child's needs and strengths, and building trust.
My strongest skillset is in processing the impact of trauma on functioning and challenging the patterns of thought and behavior which result from it. I take pride in tailoring my approach to meet the needs of each individual. Methods employed beyond talk therapy include mind-body work, expressive arts, exposure, and charting. I have specialized training and experience in treating level 1-2 Autistic people. I utilize sensory profiles in my assessment methods and find that this population particularly benefits from this feature. I also employ a culturally sensitive and accepting, sex positive, kink aware, poly friendly, approach to all adult couples' work.
Clients who have found the most significant success in their partnership with me are those who live with neurodivergence, adoption trauma, complicated grief, abuse, neglect or systemic oppression. People seeking confirmation of autism, gender and cultural challenges.
I use traditional CBT to help identify the connection between thoughts, actions and experiences and strategize ways to improve and relieve patterns that have been holding people back. For people who have experienced trauma, I combine this approach with a gentle trauma focus to increase feelings of safety.
I use narrative therapy to help people envision their lives from a place of growth, hope and courage. This treatment method is based on the idea that people create narratives to make sense of their lives, and that these narratives can influence their wellbeing.
I use DBT to increase the coping skills of people who are living through major challenges in their daily lives, to increase resilience and healing.
I employ a gender affirming approach to therapy to support gender expansive individuals in exploring the nuanced and complex experience of gender exploration and transition.
Above all I employ an integrative approach to therapy, tying together multiple treatment modalities based on the unique individual needs of each patient.
