I have been a clinical social worker for over 20 years and began my career in the Boston area. I have been practicing in Connecticut since 2008. I have worked as a LCSW (licensed clinical social worker) in several different settings and roles. Work experience includes community behavioral health, medical social work, hospice, out-patient private practice, geriatric psychiatry, partial hospitalization, and acute in-patient psychiatric hospitalization. I have had the privilege of working with adults ranging in age from 18 to 100+. My combined work experience over the years has helped me to develop my present therapeutic style based first and foremost in compassion, with the knowledge that each client is a unique individual. I trust that things can get better so you can maximize the quality of your life. Let me help you to discover this!
My goal is to create a safe, collaborative environment where clients can explore their concerns, patterns or triggers and find strategies for healing. I feel that attention needs to be given to the interconnected areas of the mind, body and spirit. Addressing the whole – mind, body and spirit - and increasing self-awareness, will improve self-acceptance and strengthen self-compassion.
Areas of clinical work with adults for individual therapy include, but are not limited to - anxiety, depression, stress related to change and life transitions – college, retirement, move to assisted living, etc.…aging, caregiver stress, grief/loss, parents of adult children with major mental health and/or SUD (substance use disorders), separation/divorce, medical problems, self-care, self-esteem, early diagnosed neurocognitive disorders, and spirituality. Whatever your situation, I look forward to working with you toward your goals.
"When you make peace with yourself, you make peace with the world"
As adults, we are responsible for changing things not because we are to blame for these things, but because we are the only ones who CAN change them. That can feel unfair, and it is. But it can also be empowering- you are the catalyst for personal change, you can always take a turn or step in a different direction, you can always act differently, feel differently, and (with the right tools and assistance) heal. I am here to help you with this noble work.
As a mental health professional, I am passionate about helping others feel more whole, hopeful and effective by developing deeper self-knowledge, self-respect, compassion, resilience and coping skills.
I am a licensed therapist in Florida, Massachusetts, and Alabama with nearly a decade of professional experience supporting individuals through a wide range of challenges. My expertise includes helping clients navigate depression, anxiety, intimacy-related issues, grief and loss, trauma-informed care, parenting, and advocacy.
In addition to providing individual therapy, I have a strong background in conducting comprehensive assessments and developing effective, personalized treatment plans. I believe that you are the expert of your own story—and that you possess unique strengths that can guide you through even the most difficult times.
Taking the first step toward therapy is a courageous act, and I’m proud of you for showing up. I’m here to walk alongside of you as you begin this journey toward healing and growth. So let the journey begin!
