Linehan Board-Certified DBT Specialist | Holistic Wellness Advocate
Clinical Expertise & Background
With 25 years of clinical experience, I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s complexities with balance and resilience. I am a Linehan Board-Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist (DBT), a credential that reflects my deep commitment to providing the highest standard of evidence-based care.
My academic foundation began at St. Louis University (MO), where I earned both my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and my Master of Social Work. This rigorous training, combined with decades of practice, allows me to offer a space that is as clinically sound as it is compassionate and nonjudgmental.
My Approach
I provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy for adolescents and adults (ages 16+). My style is warm, collaborative, and deeply respectful of your unique journey. I specialize in integrating DBT strategies to help you overcome barriers and build a life that feels truly worth living.
A Holistic Perspective
I believe that mental health is inextricably linked to physical well-being. When I’m not in the clinician’s chair, I’m likely moving. I am certified in spinning/cycling and have a deep passion for power walking, latin dance, yoga, and Pilates. This personal commitment to the mind-body connection informs my therapeutic perspective—I understand the discipline and rhythm required to foster lasting change.
The "Co-Therapist"
Healing often comes in small, furry packages. I have a 6-year-old toy Yorkie who frequently joins me. While he isn’t a registered service dog, he is an expert in providing comfort and a calming presence. He is available to join our sessions upon request (and rest assured, he is excellent at maintaining client confidentiality).
Languages & Inclusion:
My native language is English and I am proficient in Farsi. I warmly welcome Farsi-speaking clients to my practice.
I believe that even in the middle of a crisis, there is a real opportunity for growth. My path began in the theater and the study of Method Acting. This discipline focuses on how internal experience drives outward behavior. I apply this "inside-out" perspective to help you align your internal reality with your external actions. My way of working has evolved over time. I attended top universities and training programs. I was mentored by experts in the origins of trauma, addictions, and relationship difficulties. This foundation allowed me to build a successful group practice in Orange County. During that time, I taught at UC Irvine, chaired the Professional Practice Committee of the Orange County Psychological Association, and sat on its Board of Directors. In the midst of this success, I experienced a personal crisis and divorce. This led me on my own journey of growth. I began an extensive study of Buddhism and meditation which now guides how I live. I spent seven years living in Asia, where I studied with monks and cared for villagers.
What I offer now is an integration of strong academic training and Eastern teachings. My decision to become a psychologist grew from a desire to relieve suffering and transform challenges into opportunities for growth. I combine empirical psychological methods with the cultivation of an "awakened heart"—a state of genuine presence and social connection. I work to bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be

Hello,
I remember a joke from sometime ago that goes something like this:
"Three friends were walking together one day, and one remarked, 'It's windy,' Another responded, 'No. It's Thursday.' Still the other answered, 'I'm thirsty, too. Let's have a cup of tea.'"
Is it that way for you sometime? Finding that you are not really being heard and understood?

Hi, I’m Adam. I believe every person is born with an innate capacity to grow, heal, and create a meaningful life. Sometimes, painful experiences or unsupportive environments block that natural capacity, leaving us feeling stuck or overwhelmed. When this happens, I view your symptoms not as failures, but as purposeful signals calling for deeper attention.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, trained at Pepperdine University. My path to this work was informed by a significant "first act" in the global business world, navigating international licensing for entertainment and intellectual property. Living and working across Europe and Australia provided me with a firsthand understanding of high-stakes environments, cultural adaptation, and the universal search for identity. This background allows me to offer a grounded, real-world perspective to clients balancing demanding careers with a desire for emotional depth.
In my practice, I support adults working through anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and relationship challenges. My approach is client-centered and highly experiential. Rather than just analyzing the past, we gently shift attention to what you are experiencing right now in your body. Drawing from EMDR, Brainspotting, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), we work to reconnect fragmented pieces of your experience to rebuild a sense of safety. For couples, I blend PACT and EFT to help partners co-regulate and build secure, resilient relationships.
Therapy isn’t about fixing you; it’s about uncovering the capabilities you already carry. It is a privilege to offer a steady presence where we can slow down and help your true self flourish. I’m here and ready whenever you are.

Hello

Other areas of expertise include performing Immigration Evaluations, Marriage Annulments and evaluations for applicants for seminary studies.
I am compassionate and empathetic.
I am fluent in both English and Spanish.
With over 40 years of experience as a psychotherapist, I help people listen to their inner voice and develop self-knowledge to find the path that feels right for them. I believe each person is unique, with their own biology, neurology, family history, and culture. I strive to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment where clients can learn about themselves, find their best path forward, and achieve their goals.
As a child I was always very sensitive and curious about the world that surrounded me. It came natural to help people and I knew that I wanted to give back to the world at large. Just like you I suffered from some childhood wounds. My parents did the best they could with the tools they had. But due to their struggles I became a very codependent child wanting to save and fix my parents to simply gain the love I desired.
Later on I would be able to understand this cycle and name some of the patterns I lived out. People pleasing, losing myself in toxic relationships and not fully loving that little girl inside of me. Once I became a LMFT and gained the knowledge and tools necessary I was not only able to break my own patterns, I was also able to help others find joy and deep meaning in their lives.
Ultimately I specialize in helping people understand their patterns and be more effective communicators in their world. My role has been a guide and coach for my clients, providing innovative approaches based on Gestalt Method, Ancient Forgiveness Techniques, Psychodynamic Therapy, NLP and Hypnosis. I use these techniques to help my clients break patterns, many of which are fear based as a result of early childhood trauma that causes emotional issues in the present. This is deep and powerful work, and is necessary to enable a positive path to desired future. I look forward to working with you and guiding you on the path to healing and freedom.
Starting therapy takes courage, and having a space where you feel safe and understood can make that process less overwhelming.
I take an integrative approach to therapy, with a particular focus on relationships and codependency, childhood trauma, attachment challenges, and experiences of loss and grief.
I would be honored to hear your story and be a part of your journey.

I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you and walk alongside with you in that process.
I was born in Managua, Nicaragua but moved to the United States at a young age. I can say that I’ve learned to appreciate, value, and grow from every experience given in life. Good or bad experiences can potentially shape who we are. They can impact our view and perspective about life, and make us stronger to overcome challenges we face throughout our journey or disable us temporarily, making the journey less enjoyable and pleasing.
I always had a strong desire to help others. I found in Psychology and Therapy a good option to provide others the needed tools to move forward, so they can find within them the strength to push toward a better and more productive lifestyle. I view therapy as a safe place to explore relationships, whether those relationships are with people (family, co-workers, partner) or things (food, money, alcohol). I also feel an important part of therapy is addressing the social, economic, and cultural influences on a person.
Hey there, I'm Mersedeh, but feel free to call me Mary!

I'm here to help you tap into the wisdom of your own experiences, and together, we'll create a nurturing space for healing and growth.
My goal is to empower you, helping you understand what might be holding you back and guiding you through it. We'll embark on this journey using an evidence-based approach tailored to the unique needs of your mind, body, and spirit, ultimately restoring balance in your life.
I'm passionate about incorporating Psychoanalysis, mindfulness, and art techniques to foster a deeper and more loving connection with yourself.
