New to Grow
Hello, I am Favour Olekanma, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping individuals achieve emotional wellness and improved quality of life. I provide compassionate, patient-centered care for adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, stress, trauma, burnout, life transitions, and other mental health challenges. My approach combines evidence-based treatment, supportive therapy, medication management, and holistic care tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative environment where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their healing journey. For clients who desire it, I also offer faith-based and Christian-centered counseling integrated with mental health treatment to support emotional, spiritual, and personal growth.
During your first individual session, time will be spent discussing your current concerns, emotional challenges, symptoms, personal history, stressors, and treatment goals in a private, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment. The session is designed to help you feel comfortable, heard, and supported while building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust and collaboration. Your mental health history, coping strategies, lifestyle factors, relationships, previous treatment experiences, and medications may also be reviewed if applicable. An individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and goals will be developed to support emotional wellness, personal growth, and overall quality of life. Practical coping tools, guidance, and support will be provided throughout the healing process.
My greatest strengths include providing compassionate, patient-centered care while creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. My therapeutic approach combines evidence-based treatment, medication management, supportive therapy, and holistic care tailored to each client’s unique needs, goals, and life experiences. With experience as both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner, I bring a well-rounded understanding of the connection between mental and physical health. I am especially passionate about helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, stress, burnout, mood disorders, and life transitions while building healthier coping skills, emotional resilience, and long-term wellness. Clients often appreciate my warm, collaborative approach, active listening, cultural sensitivity, and ability to provide practical strategies that support meaningful and lasting change. I also offer faith-based and Christian-centered support for clients who wish to incorporate spirituality into their healing journey.
I am best positioned to support adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, trauma, mood disorders, ADHD, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. I work well with clients who are seeking a compassionate, supportive, and collaborative environment where they can feel heard, understood, and empowered in their healing journey. I especially enjoy helping healthcare professionals, students, caregivers, young adults, and individuals balancing demanding personal or professional responsibilities. I also support clients who desire faith-based or Christian-centered counseling integrated with evidence-based mental health treatment. My goal is to help clients develop healthier coping skills, improve emotional wellness, strengthen self-esteem, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change while working toward greater balance, clarity, and overall quality of life.
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to anxiety, depression, stress, trauma-related symptoms, and other mental health concerns. In my practice, I use CBT techniques to help clients develop healthier coping skills, improve emotional regulation, challenge distorted thinking, and build practical strategies for managing daily challenges. I provide a supportive, collaborative environment where clients can gain insight into the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while working toward realistic treatment goals and long-term emotional wellness.
Faith based therapy
I offer faith-based therapy for clients who wish to incorporate their spiritual or religious beliefs into the healing process. In my practice, I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore emotional, relational, and mental health challenges while drawing strength from their faith and personal values. I may integrate prayer, scripture reflection, spiritual encouragement, and faith-centered coping strategies when aligned with the client’s preferences and treatment goals. My approach combines evidence-based mental health care with compassionate spiritual support to promote emotional wellness, resilience, hope, and personal growth.
Christian Counseling
I provide Christian counseling for clients who desire a faith-centered approach to mental health and emotional wellness. In my practice, I integrate biblical principles, spiritual support, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help clients navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, stress, trauma, and life transitions. I create a compassionate and nonjudgmental environment where clients can strengthen their emotional well-being while deepening their faith, hope, and sense of purpose. Sessions may include prayer, scripture-based encouragement, and discussion of spiritual values when aligned with the client’s preferences and treatment goals
Biofeedback
I use biofeedback techniques to help clients become more aware of how stress, anxiety, and emotional responses affect the body. In my practice, I teach clients relaxation strategies, breathing exercises, mindfulness, and self-regulation techniques to help improve emotional control, reduce physical symptoms of stress, and promote overall mental wellness. Biofeedback-informed approaches can help clients better manage anxiety, tension, sleep difficulties, and stress-related symptoms by increasing awareness of the connection between the mind and body.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore and strengthen their motivation for positive change in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. In my practice, I work collaboratively with clients to identify personal goals, address ambivalence, and build confidence in making healthy behavioral changes related to mental health, substance use, lifestyle habits, treatment adherence, and overall wellness. This approach helps clients feel empowered, understood, and actively involved in their treatment journey while promoting long-term growth and self-efficacy.
