Dr. Edna Hiers graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She later obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Rutgers University-Newark with a focus on psychiatric/mental health. Dr. Hiers has interned at Veritas Recovery where she treated patients with addiction and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. She also interned at a group home for adolescents with mental health and behavioral issues. Dr. Hiers was chosen to complete her residency at Henry J. Austin Health Center in Trenton NJ where to managed psychiatric care for people living with HIV. She specializes in adult psychiatry, immigrant/LGBTQ/HIV mental health, trauma-informed care, and substance abuse/addiction. Dr. Hiers works in several facilities and agencies where she is contracted to treat patients with schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar spectrum, depression, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), body dysmorphia, eating disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders (ADHD), substance abuse, and other disorders. She is American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) board certified to diagnose and treat mental health disorders. She is also licensed to prescribe Suboxone amongst other medication-assisted treatments to treat substance use disorders and cravings. She is currently licensed to practice in New Jersey with plans to expand to other states in the near future. Dr. Hiers comes highly recommended by her mentors and colleagues for her level of expertise and passion for treating people with mental health issues.
