LPC, 10 years of experience
I am a licensed Professional counselor with over 10 years experience in the field. I have worked in outpatient settings, hospitals, and in private practice. I have worked with people suffering from depression, anxiety, grief, and substance use issues. I have also worked with military, veterans and first responders quite extensively. I take a goal-oriented, no nonsense approach to therapy and I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgement.
Generally, I like to speak with my clients about what they may like to work on during out time together. I believe that ultimately the client is in the driver's seat and I act as a guide. I also believe that it is important to take the time to get to know each other before diving fully in. Therapy is a very personal experience and we need to be comfortable and compatible with each other to have a successful therapeutic relationship.
I am more of a laid back therapist but also take a no nonsense approach to therapy. Some say I am a bit more direct or straight forward. I am passionate about what I do and I believe my life experiences coupled with professional experience, I bring a lot to t the table.
I am passionate about working with people who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, and work / life struggles. I also work with military and veterans who may be struggling with life's stressors.
ACT is helpful with anxiety, depression, and life's overall stressors. I have found that clients who practice ACT are more accepting of their thoughts, feelings and life values. Understanding what we value in life and how if can affect how we feel and is an important step in understanding ourselves better.
I like to help my clients find solutions to problems that may be debilitating or difficult to navigate. I take a no nonsense approach to therapy that clients have found refreshing. I believe that a different perspective coupled with an understanding of our values helps clients to move forward.
