The first initial session is considered the intake session. The session will begin with an introduction where I will share a little bit about myself and go over some basic information such as general information, the therapeutic process, policies, confidentiality, etc. Then clients answer a series of questions to explore reasonings for seeking therapy services and discuss ways that I may be able to help and support you with your therapy goals.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that focuses on helping clients accept the reality of their lives as well as their behaviors, while helping clients learn skills to change their lives through changing unhelpful behaviors.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is used to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, enabling them to develop healthier behaviors and coping strategies. By focusing on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, I guide clients through information that promote lasting change and empower them to manage their mental health more effectively.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is used to help clients process and reframe distressing thoughts related to their trauma, guiding them to understand how these thoughts impact their emotions and behaviors. Through structured sessions, we work together to challenge and modify these unhelpful beliefs, facilitating a path toward healing and reducing symptoms other trauma-related disorders.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is an approach I use to help clients develop self-compassion and alleviate self-criticism. I use CFT techniques to guide clients in understanding the origins of their inner critic and to foster a compassionate mindset toward themselves. By focusing on building inner warmth, kindness, and acceptance, I support clients in reducing shame and increasing emotional resilience, which is particularly beneficial for those struggling with feelings of worthlessness.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy is a key approach I use to help clients become more present and aware of their thoughts and emotions without judgment. Mindfulness exercises such as breathing techniques and meditation, help to teach clients how to observe their internal experiences with curiosity and acceptance. This practice is particularly effective in reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, as it empowers clients to break free from automatic negative thought patterns and fosters a sense of calm and balance in their daily lives.
