Michelle Bybel

LCSW27 years of experience

For the past 20+ years, I’ve helped people who feel lost, stuck, or unsure of their path reconnect with their confidence, purpose, and sense of direction. I’m a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience in mental health, addiction, clinical assessment, psychotherapy, and teaching psychology and social work at the graduate and undergraduate levels. My background also includes writing a book on emotional eating, working as a certified health coach, providing clinical supervision, and leading trainings and workshops focused on personal growth and resilience. What this really means for you is that I bring a seasoned, compassionate, real-world understanding of what it takes to change your life — and a flexible, client-centered approach that adapts to exactly where you are.

First session

Our first session is a relaxed, judgment-free conversation focused entirely on you. You’ll have space to share your story — where you’ve been, what you’re struggling with now, and where you imagine yourself at your healthiest, happiest, and most grounded. We’ll explore what you’ve tried, what hasn’t worked, what has helped, where you feel stuck, and what you hope to gain from therapy. This is also your opportunity to ask questions, express concerns, and make sure you feel comfortable. Together, we’ll determine whether we’re a good fit and begin outlining the path toward the future you want

Strengths

I’m a patient listener, deeply empathetic, and completely non-judgmental. I’m flexible in my approach and fully committed to helping you achieve the goals that matter to you. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy; I tailor our work to match your personality, your pace, and your goals. My clients often tell me they feel understood, supported, and empowered — sometimes for the first time in years.

Ideal clients

I work best with people who feel like they’re surviving instead of truly living — people who sense they were meant for more but aren’t sure how to get there. You might be navigating a major life transition, feeling disconnected from your purpose, doubting your abilities, or worrying about your future. Maybe you’ve tried to make changes but keep slipping back into old patterns. Maybe you feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or stuck in negative thinking. Deep down, you still want a better life — you just need someone who can help you see what’s possible and guide you toward becoming the version of yourself you know you can be.

Treatment methods

Supportive

I use a supportive, compassionate approach that meets you exactly where you are. Together, we’ll create a safe, judgment-free space to explore your challenges, strengthen your coping skills, and build your confidence so you feel grounded, capable, and empowered to achieve your goals.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I incorporate practical mindfulness tools such as grounding, breathwork, and awareness exercises to help you quiet self-doubt, reduce stress, and reconnect with your inner clarity. Mindfulness helps you stay present, regulate emotions, and make intentional choices aligned with your values. It’s simple, effective, and something you can use in any situation.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help you identify unhelpful thought patterns, challenge negative self-beliefs, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding. This approach empowers you to break old cycles and build self-worth, resilience, and real-life confidence — the foundation of happiness, success, and fulfillment.erience with this treatment method and how you use it in your practice
