Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session with me, patients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where they feel comfortable sharing their concerns. We will begin by discussing their current mental health challenges, personal history, and any previous treatment experiences. I will ask questions to gain a comprehensive understanding of their unique situation, including their symptoms, lifestyle, and any cultural factors that may influence their mental health. This initial session is also an opportunity for patients to express their goals and expectations for treatment. Together, we will begin to outline a personalized care plan, which may include therapeutic interventions, medication management, or referrals to other resources as needed. Patients can expect an open dialogue where their questions are encouraged, and their input is valued. By the end of our first meeting, they will have a clear understanding of the next steps and feel confident in the collaborative path forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths lie in my ability to offer compassionate, culturally sensitive care tailored to each individual's needs. Being bilingual in English and Spanish allows me to connect deeply with a diverse range of patients, ensuring that language is never a barrier to effective communication and understanding. This skill is particularly beneficial in serving the Hispanic community, where cultural nuances play a significant role in mental health treatment. My background in mental health provides me with a comprehensive understanding of various therapeutic modalities, and I am adept at integrating evidence-based practices into personalized care plans. My experience working in diverse clinical settings has equipped me with the skills to manage complex cases and adapt to the unique challenges each patient presents. What truly sets me apart is my dedication to fostering a collaborative and empathetic therapeutic environment. I am committed to building strong, trusting relationships with my patients, empowering them to play an active role in their treatment journey. This patient-centered approach not only enhances treatment outcomes but also supports clients in achieving long-term mental wellness and resilience.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am ideally positioned to serve individuals who are seeking a supportive, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach to mental health care. My dream patients are those who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, or trauma and are eager to engage in a collaborative healing process. They value clear communication and appreciate the ability to discuss their concerns in either English or Spanish, which allows for a deeper connection and understanding. These clients are open to exploring various therapeutic modalities and are committed to actively participating in their treatment journey. Together, we work towards achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life, fostering resilience and growth along the way.

It’s always hard to start over with a new psychiatrist and Maryan was thorough and patient with this onboarding process. I really appreciate her support.

Best first session ever! I highly recommend if you are looking for a kind understanding genuinely caring professional. Not judgmental or dismissive like other psychiatrists, will consult with you beforehand giving medication if the treatment plan is appropriate for the client and if the client feels comfortable as well. Also is amazing at listening to gather all important information needed rather than just diagnosing out of context like some psychiatrists. Extremely supportive and helpful!

My treatment methods

Supportive

In my practice as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I integrate supportive therapy to foster a collaborative and empathetic therapeutic environment. This approach involves active listening, validation, and encouragement, allowing patients to articulate their feelings and experiences while building resilience. By providing a consistent and nurturing space, I help individuals develop coping strategies and enhance their emotional well-being.

Psychoeducation

In my practice, I utilize psychoeducation to empower patients by providing them with a comprehensive understanding of their mental health conditions and treatment options. This method involves delivering clear and accessible information, enabling patients to make informed decisions about their care and actively participate in their recovery process. By integrating psychoeducation into my sessions, I foster a sense of autonomy and confidence in patients, helping them to manage symptoms more effectively and improve their overall quality of life.
