My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use mindfulness to assist clients to develop the skills to be in the present moment. Some of the techniques I use focusing in their breath, listening to music, guided images, among others.

Compassion Focused

I have been using compassion focused for 14 years. I use CF along with CBT to help clients identify their dominant thought patters. I teach them to be kind and accepting of themselves to lower and eventually mute the self-critic voice. We are all doing the best we can based on our level of awareness, so I teach self-compassion for self and others to heal the relationship with themselves and others and develop more loving ones.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT for 14 years. I develop a collaborative relationship with the clients making them feel safe and understood. We work together to identify the dominant thoughts, emotions, and behavior patterns and how they are effecting their mood and current struggles. I use different strategies such as challenging irrational thoughts/beliefs, teaching clients to replace negative thought patterns and behaviors with more positive ones, though stopping, focusing in the present moment, and other coping skills. The goals of treatment is for client to develop new though patters, and consequently new dominant emotions, behavior habits, and beliefs that will develop a sense of well-being, hope, and motivation to cope with their life struggles.
