LPC, 15 years of experience
New to Grow
I have been working in the field of mental health for over 15 years, and have been in private practice since 2011. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from La Salle University in 2007 and received my state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2011. In addition to my private practice, I have worked in community mental health agencies, a residential treatment facility, a managed care company and in a public educational setting.
My hope for our first session is that you leave feeling a little lighter and hopeful about your future. We will review anything from your intake paperwork that I may want some clarity on or that you may want to elaborate on. We will discuss what is bringing you to therapy at the moment and what goals you would like to achieve.
I approach each client's therapy based on their unique goals and needs. You and I work together as a team to identify the patterns that are affecting your life, and build the knowledge and skills to allow you to live a satisfying life. I am flexible in how I approach treatment, as I will integrate various therapy practices and approaches in order to best fit your needs. I work to create a safe environment where client's can grow and learn through their struggles.
I am skilled in working with a range of different problems that may arise in a person's life. These include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, anger management, behavioral difficulties and self-acceptance. I have vast experience working with adolescents, young adults and individuals that are a part of the queer community. Together, we will develop healthy coping skills so you can be prepared to handle any stressors in your life.
I have been using CBT techniques for years now and have found much success with my clients. I teach clients how to challenge their negative thoughts, understand what their automatic thoughts are, and we examine their core beliefs and how those beliefs impact their decision making. We also discuss how their thoughts inform their feelings, which then inform their behaviors.
I utilize the emotional regulation skills to help clients learn how to safely express and manage their emotions. I also use DBT to help clients build healthy relationships with others and how to navigate distress without spiraling.
I have worked with clients that have experienced various traumas in their lives and I have a good understanding of how to help clients process and grow from those experiences.
I utilize MI to help clients resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to make changes to their behaviors. Clients find this helpful because it is practical , empathetic and short-term process that takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes.
I provide gender-affirming therapy to ensure all clients feel included and welcomed. I have many years of experience in working with members of the queer community and am familiar with supportive services in the area.
