Tasha M Jeffrey
I am a solo single mother, solo private practice owner, and licensed clinical social worker – certified (LCSW-C), with more than 20 years of experience in the Mental Health Field working with a variety of mental and emotional issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, anger and stress management, childhood/adolescent developmental stressors, and life transitional stages. The remarkable moments and the the difficult ones ( in some obvious ways or in subtle ways that sometimes sneak up on us) can cause us to go through life merely surviving or struggling, often feeling alone. It doesn't stop there. Often the life and soul work is also challenging (but rewarding process) , that can make you feel alone too!
I work with you to identify and address emotional, spiritual, mental, or physical challenges that are holding you back from the life you deserve and want to live now.
My role is to fill in that gap. You do not need to be alone. The work should be experienced in a safe, loving, and understanding environment. As a holder of your pain, your hope, and your light, let me stand by your side and empower you to face obstacles and challenges. Let us go beyond surviving this life, but healing our hearts and mind so we can love and enjoy the moments we have right now, the best we can.
First session
In our first session you can expect to feel listened to and know that I am interested in learning about who you are and what you are experiencing. I am genuienly curious about what you are experiencing and how I can give you something to take home to help you each time we meet. We will talk a lot and you should feel safe to vent and " dump" whatever you have been holding on to as we build rapport.
Strengths
Often, I find that my clients and I are connecting on a very real and natural peer-to-peer level. Though I “sit in the therapist chair,” my approach does not give that feeling ( I hope!). I too have had to work on myself and continue to work on my mental and physical health. I value " Practice what you preach" and so You and I are walking in the healing process together, exchanging of stories and experiences, utilizing those experiences to make therapy more practical and applicable in real time. Aspects of therapy can be perceived as “too deep” and “Wishy washy” for some, however, with a peer-to-peer approach that I use, we can overcome that perception and truly give mental health the attention that it deserves.
Ideal clients
Woman issues, new mothers, mothers again ( Ex: prenatal, post partum, motherhood). Depression and Anxiety, Dealing with Transitions in Life, and Attachment.
Treatment methods
Psychodynamic
At the root of treatment is a person centered and psychodynamic approach. Your childhood experiences and family dynamics play a significant role in who you are today and how you experience the world. You are the expert of your life and so together we collaborate and explore , with you in the lead.
