I am Dr. Dagmar Ngiowa DNP. I hold dual certifications as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. I earned my Doctorate Degree from Chatham University in Pittsburg Pennsylvania and Psychiatry Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Degree from Brandman University, in Irvine California. I am compassionate about my patient care and take a holistic approach in caring for my patients. I enjoy working with patients with all types of mental illnesses, to include, but not limited to Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder and much more. As a mental health practitioner, and in the treatment of my clients, I apply compassion, empathy, respect, humility, and hope to restore their dignity thereby reducing the stigma associated with mental health.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During a patient's first session, I gather their complaints, symptoms, their personal, family, medical, and psychiatric information. This information helps me tailor an individualized and practical treatment plan that can help the patient. The patient will also have the opportunity to ask questions, and their treatment plan is also explained to them. Follow-up appointments and the frequency of visits will be based on their condition.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With dual board certifications in family medicine and mental health and with 7+ years of practicing and treating patients with different health issues, I've developed a systemic way of diagnosing and treating patients and in also creating an individualized plan that leads to a desirable outcome.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am compassionate about caring, and love working with all with mental health needs.

My treatment methods

Supportive

This form of treatment method helps Dr. Dagmar to focus more on the patient, by providing emotional support and practical advice dealing with various mental health diagnosis. This treatment method builds rapport, trust, validation, affirmation, emotional support, problem-solving, coping skills and psychoeducation for patients. Furthermore, supportive treatment method helps alleviate distress, enhance coping mechanisms, and improve overall patient functioning.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a treatment method Dr. Dagmar uses because it helps manage a patients' problem by changing the way they think and behave which in turn helps prevent the negative cycle of thinking. This form of treatment is most commonly used to treat depression and anxiety but can be useful for other mental health and relationship issues.
