New to Grow
I am currently working as an LCSW providing readjustment counseling services to Veterans, their spouses, and families. Throughout my education and current work I can make an impact on my clients by helping them learn the tools they need to move forward in a more positive manner with regard to mental health. My goal is to give my clients the tools they need to have the most optimal outcome.
In the first session I will spend time getting to know my client, their concerns regarding mental health and developing rapport so they feel comfortable. I want my clients to be a crucial part of their treatment planning to increase focus on self-confidence and sense of purpose. Being an integral part of treatment has been shown to increase work done and more positive outcomes.
I have done a lot of work with the Emotion-Focused Therapy and reconnecting with a client's inner child to address unresolved trauma. I have taken that modality and re-imagined its use for reconnecting with a Veteran client's inner soldier to process and address unresolved military traumas that have resulted in significant PTSD and current life stressors. These reconnections significantly have decreased PTSD, anxiety and depression for many of my clients.
Throughout my career as a social worker/therapist I have worked with a wide variety of clients. I have worked with children as young as 5 years old up to adults aged 75 years. I have also worked with a variety of mental health disorders including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorders, Behavioral Disorders, PTSD, Complex-PTSD, and Military Sexual Trauma. I am looking to work with any client and their support system who have the goal of learning healthy coping skills to replace those that are maladaptive and moving forward in their current life.
Trauma-Focused CBT
