Are you looking for a safe, comfortable place to work through life’s emotional ups and downs, stressors, traumas or behaviors that may be getting in the way of obtaining the best life possible? Look no further. I am Katherine and I am here to help you tap into yourselves and the powers within you to unlock a life beyond your wildest dreams. Through telehealth therapy you will be able to work with me from your home in order to improve the areas of life that are just no longer serving you

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Reaching out is taking the first and hardest step in the therapeutic process. So we are already off to a wonderful start! In our first session we will get to know one another and see if we would be a good fit and if I am the proper individual to assist you with your goals. We will formulate a plan of action in the form of a treatment plan to help us stay on track with meeting specific goals, and creating new ones if the situation calls for change. In our first session it gives you a chance to unwind and speak freely within a safe and secure environment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked with a number of clients with a plethora of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, low quality of life, stress, relationship problems and many other issues. I feel as though I bring a unique perspective to clients that allows them to open up to seeing things differently and assisting them in solving concrete issues. I also bring a sense of humor to the room, when appropriate, that allows for clients to feel relaxed and safe within my presence.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

By using CBT, I help the client gain insight, develop coping skills, and make changes in both thinking and behavior that lead to long-term improvements in their mental health. CBT is collaborative, so I actively guide the client through a process where they become an active participant in their healing.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

As a therapist using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I help clients develop greater psychological flexibility by guiding them to accept their thoughts and emotions, rather than trying to control or avoid them. In our sessions, I encourage clients to cultivate mindfulness, so they can become more aware of their present moment experience without judgment. This allows them to relate to their inner thoughts and feelings in a new, more open way, rather than letting those experiences dictate their actions.

Trauma Informed Care

As a therapist, I integrate trauma-informed care into my practice by creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel respected, heard, and empowered. Understanding that trauma can deeply affect a person’s emotional, psychological, and physical well-being, I approach each client with sensitivity and an awareness of their unique experiences.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

In EFT, I work with clients to uncover, explore, and transform their emotional experiences. The therapy helps clients access vulnerable emotions that may have been suppressed, invalidated, or avoided, and it allows me to guide them in developing a deeper understanding of how those emotions influence their behavior and relationships. By creating a secure emotional base, improving communication, and fostering emotional responsiveness, I help clients break negative cycles of interaction and build healthier, more connected relationships. EFT also emphasizes the importance of emotional vulnerability and responsiveness in creating and maintaining secure emotional bonds, whether in romantic partnerships or in a person’s broader emotional life.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I teach clients various mindfulness techniques, such as focused breathing, body scans, or mindful observation, to help them anchor themselves in the present moment. This can be particularly helpful when clients are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, or negative emotions, as mindfulness allows them to approach their experience with greater clarity and calm. I also help clients explore how their thoughts and emotions influence their behavior, without getting caught in cycles of judgment or self-criticism. Instead, I encourage them to observe these experiences with curiosity and self-compassion.
