Stephanie Hill
Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor from Pennsylvania. I have been practicing for over 20 years. Throughout my career, I have worked in schools, outpatient settings, in-home services, and residential facilities.
Throughout my career, I have worked in schools, outpatient settings, in-home services, and residential facilities.
I have worked with clients from age 5 to 70, with the majority of my work being with adolescents and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, and self-esteem issues.
First session
In our first session, after some basic introductions, we will discuss the issues bringing you to counseling. I will explain strategies we will use to help address these issues, and together we will come up with a plan for treatment. Don't be surprised if we come up with homework to do in-between sessions. I am a firm believer in putting what we work on in sessions into practice in real life situations.
Strengths
With over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, I am confident in my ability to help people gain better insight into their issues and to aid them in developing a personalized treatment plan to address those issues. By creating a partnership with my clients, I can guide them to finding their own solutions to their problems, rather than simply trying to fix their problems for them. This way, clients are able to utilize these skills independently for the rest of their lives.
Ideal clients
I love working with individuals that are struggling to figure out how to cope with difficulties they are facing in their lives and that are motivated to work through these issues both in sessions with me and on their own outside of counseling appointments. I believe in creating a partnership with my clients, where we are both invested in the betterment of their lives.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Having worked in the counseling field for over 20 years, I have found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to be an effective treatment strategy for the majority of my clients. By learning the basic tenants of CBT, clients gain a better understanding of how they can take control of their mental health. Strategies practiced in sessions can be used independently, both while in counseling services and for the rest of one's life. As someone who personally employs these strategies in my own life, I can testify to their effectiveness and look forward to helping others find ways to use them to help themselves cope with whatever life throws at them.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Learning to focus on the present moment helps reduce stress, anxiety, and anger. Using mindfulness techniques, a person can stay present in the here and now, thereby bringing about their own inner calm, regardless of what life throws at them.
