I have received my Ph.D. in Psychology from UCLA with emphasis on education and I am also Licensed in Individual, Marriage and Family Therapy. I have over 20 years of university teaching (at UC and CSU system). You are welcome to visit my site at: Shahincarrigan.com
The first therapy session is usually an intake and assessment session. The main goal is for the therapist and client to know each other and understand why the client is seelin help. It is usually about gathering information and bonding with the client. Client will be assured that confidentiality and be absolutely honered and when by law it may be broken. It also deals with record taking and boundries in therapy.
My greatest strenght is emotional bonding and connection with the client. To make her/him to feel safe and comfortable and to trust. My many years of teaching and research at University of California system has prepared me to diagnose and treat most of psychological issues with the cooperation of the client, and couple who seek help.
I provide psychotherapy for adults , couples, and families. I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, career change, life transitions, grief, and emotional stress. I also offer evaluation and treatment for children and adults with ADHD. My therapy approach combines psychological insight with practical strategies that help individuals improve their emotional well-being, strengthen relationships, and navigate life challenges with greater clarity and resilience.
