My name is Alicia Gutierrez and I am a License Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years' experience in California. I am passionate about supporting my clients, through challenges to experience healing growth in their lives. My passion for mental health comes from working with underserved communities, including individuals experiencing homelessness, substance used, and mental health challenges. I personally have experienced the difference it makes when you have one personal believing in you and how it all begins with small steps.
My goal is to meet you where you are, wherever that may be. Let's work together! At its core, my therapeutic approach is person-centered. Clients "drive the bus," or point me in the direction they would like to go, and together we create a plan to reach therapeutic goals. My goal is to create a safe space, supportive space where you feel comfortable exploring your experiences and discovering new ways to move forward.
I often use interventions from a range of modalities to further address a client's presenting concern, most commonly CBT, DBT, Narrative, Reality therapy, and motivation interviewing. It is usual for clients to have "homework" between sessions (unless there is a preference not to), as this is where challenges and opportunities for change arise. I offer a calm, compassionate, empathic, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel heard and understood.
I am opening with all communities working. but in my experience telehealth works best with adults who come in voluntary. I am looking for individuals wanting to work on their goals and working on balancing life and needing to process what is stopping them from moving to that next step. Also identifying coping skills that they can used to move forward in life.
