Hey there, I'm Alex (she/her). My passion as a clinician is to create a space where you feel safe and valued in vulnerability. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) in Maryland who focuses on work with women and nonbinary identifying individuals. I have worked with clients with concerns ranging from anxiety, depression, sexual assault, trauma, isolation, self-harm, LGTBQIAA+ concerns, to life transition challenges. My work in multiple higher education institutions has provided a specific lens and focus on late adolescence and younger adulthood. Social justice, and honoring each persons individual journey and struggle is very important to me and is incorporated deeply into my work. In an ever changing world and often troubling political landscape, it's natural to struggle with identity. I seek to provide a safe haven for asking larger life questions and coping with societal struggles. Acknowledging the need for more support is a big deal, and I would be honored to assist in that journey. I believe sessions can be holy ground for support, self-awareness, and growth.
My counseling style is nonjudgmental and supportive. From sessions with me, you can expect to have someone fully engaged in your growth and healing. Utilizing an eclectic set of tools for support, take aways can be a wide range depending on your needs; from grounding tools to solution focused outcomes. I seek to create a set of goals and desired outcomes together.
I am person-centered and strengths based, identifying the the strength each client brings to their daily lives and considering ways to draw from those strengths. I draw from ACT, DBT, CBT, and Multicultural theories. I love incorporating artistic expression such as narrative therapy.
It is not only my work but my passion and joy to partner with clients in building insight and connecting trauma or learned behaviors to current needs or functioning.
