About me

Hello, I'm Meredith. Do you feel overwhelmed? Off-balanced? Unsure what direction to go towards? Maybe your sad, anxious, feeling lonely? I am here for you. Together we will help you work through these negative feelings and empower you to be a stronger you. With over 16 years as a counselor, I can assist you by providing support, encouragement and the skills children, families, and couples need to cope with stress and enjoy a more balanced, satisfying life. Sometimes all you need is someone to process the struggles and concerns that are going on within your own mind or with someone else. My role is to create a safe and judgement-free environment where you can feel secure and supported. My style is warm, respectful and interactive, and I value a strong therapeutic alliance as a basis for personal/behavior change and emotional growth. I will meet you with compassion, but also challenge your thoughts and behaviors. I look forward to working together to get to a better you!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Today's world offers many challenges for individuals, families, and couples alike. Just like adults, teens can be under extreme stress, which takes its toll on their mental and emotional well-being. The stress can come from, the pressure to perform well in school/sports/activities, family, or from their own friendship/dating relationships. I also work with adults suffering from similar issues, as well as, stress due to family/relationship conflicts, job/career, etc. When I work with couples, they learn how to communicate more effectively with each other through practice with me and without me.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I utilize person center theory in my practice. I believe that the client is the expert and given the right tools they will be motivated for growth and change in their life. My goal is to assist you in this journey to achieve self-understanding and self-acceptance. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients see their unhelpful ways of thinking. By improving our thoughts we improve our feelings. Clients learn to recognize the unhealthy ways of thinking that are creating the problems and counteract those thoughts.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I feel that many of my clients become quickly connected to me and feel a sense of security. I enjoy helping my clients process their thoughts and learn new ways of thinking.

Meredith has been wonderful. She's very kind and very easy to talk to. She always gives me homework assignments and seems like she genuinely cares. She can be very direct at times which is what I need. She calls me out when it's needed as well. I wish she could be everyone's therapist. I'd recommend her to anyone.
