Exhausted by the way you think about yourself? We are often (if not always) our own worst enemies. Whether this pattern has caused you problems with guilt, shame, anxiety, depression, addiction or you name it - the starting point is generally the same. When we embark on the project of therapy you will be asked to put your painful thoughts and feelings into words. As the process unfolds, the strength and fervor used to overthink and condemn yourself will become accessible to use productively in reaching your goals.
While providing psychotherapy I believe it is key to embrace humor and offer some relief from the gravity of the problems those I work with face. I encourage profound exploration of symptoms and conflicts while simultaneously offering my patients a space of warmth and relief in which to grow. After building a foundation of trust, working together we can develop the motivation and skills to foster change.
I practice from an insight-oriented psychodynamic lens. Difficult patterns become easier to shed as we develop understanding of their conscious triggers and unconscious roots. Of course, as challenges do arise in the here and now, we will meet them head on utilizing narrative and solution focused interventions.
I am well suited to work with individuals who are creative, artistic, or who may even feel too blocked to label themselves as such. I am also experienced in working with mental health and academic professionals struggling with their careers or personal lives.
