Caroline Abbott

LCSW (she/her)1 year of experience

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience in long-term care, hospice, and healthcare consulting. Through this work, I developed a deep passion for supporting individuals as they navigate life transitions, complex decisions, and experiences of loss. What matters to you matters to me. I work collaboratively with clients to help them move toward their highest level of well-being, using clear, relatable approaches to make complex emotions and challenges easier to understand and work through. In my free time, I enjoy working on new knitting patterns, walking around the neighborhood with my husband, son, and dog, and relaxing with a puzzle while watching Philly sports.

First session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable, collaborative dynamic. I want to understand what brought you here and what you’re hoping to gain from our work together. You may come in with a clear goal, or we can take the time to identify one together - both are equally welcome. What matters most is showing up as you are and sharing your thoughts at your own pace. I’m here to listen to all of it.

Strengths

I bring a balance of acceptance and gentle challenge to my work, creating a space where clients feel supported while also encouraged to grow. I often use therapeutic metaphors to help make complex thoughts and emotions more accessible and meaningful. My experience working within interdisciplinary teams has also given me a strong understanding of the interconnected factors that shape each person’s experience.

Ideal clients

I enjoy working with people who are navigating life transitions and are receptive to real time feedback on how they can actively improve themselves. I have history of supporting adult children of aging parents in navigating complex healthcare decisions and family dynamics while maintaining their sense of self. I also have a passion for working with bereaved individuals across the lifespan, either experiencing anticipatory grief, a recent loss, or a mature loss.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I focus on practical coping skills and how they can be integrated into daily routines to disrupt negative thoughts.

Existential

Some questions or problems don't have immediate answers. We'll explore and get comfortable with this while navigating continuing to show up authentically in your life on a daily basis.

Integrative

There is value in multiple approaches to the therapeutic process and many people respond to a dynamic approach to interventions. Using a multifaceted perspective allows for responding to what you need in that session rather than following a prescriptive method of therapy.
