The initial consultation will center around you and may take one to one and a half hours. Your first session with me will entail our introduction, which is the beginning of the patient-provider relationship. I will ask about your family history, including any mental health diagnosis, and your personal history, including any traumas you’ve experienced. Understanding your background is essential for us to use the information we gather to tailor your treatment plan. We'll explore your treatment goals together. I will ask about your symptoms, how long you’ve had them, and what you’ve tried in the past. We shall discuss your symptoms and treatment options, which may include medication, counseling, lifestyle modifications, or further evaluation. If medication is prescribed, you will get clear instructions on how to use it and what to expect regarding side effects. Questions and Clarifications: You can ask any questions about the process, my approach, or what to expect next.

I have been seeing Dr. Lawal for a few months now, and it has been a good experience so far. She can be considered direct, but also is uplifting (empowering) in her approach. She is also helping me taper off of my SSRIs, which I had requested from the start of my care with her. Although I still have a long journey ahead, I appreciate Dr. Lawal and will continue to come to her for high-level guidance during my biweekly sessions.

She is very knowledgeable, direct, helful, intelligent, and listens well. I am grateful to have found someone who addresses my specific concerns. I have never been cared for from past providers in such a wonderful way. It was my first appointment and I am feeling very excited to future appointments.
