Hi, my name is Jess. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California. I received my Master's in Social Welfare from UCLA and have been practicing for 5 years. During that time I have provided residential and in home therapy to individuals experiencing serious mental illnesses. I currently provide telehealth therapy to adult individuals, as well as working as an Emergency Department Social Worker at a local hospital.
During our first session, we will get to know each other through discussion of what brings you to therapy, what to expect from the process, and how I can use my experience and training to assist you. I will gather necessary historical information from you to facilitate treatment, but you should use this time to ask questions, address any concerns you may have about the therapeutic process, and share what you feel is most important about yourself and your motivation for seeking therapy.
As a member of the LGBTQ community and someone who has benefited from therapy myself, I know how difficult it can be to find an affirming therapist and develop the kind of safe and trusting professional relationship that facilitates growth and change. I became a social worker to give back to my community, and providing therapy allows me to assist others in navigating through personal crises and living with mental illness.
I enjoy helping people stabilize after a crisis - whether that is a recent loss, a major life transition, or new or worsening mental health symptoms - and develop the skills necessary to succeed long term. In particular, I prioritize working with members of the LGBTQ+ community across all age ranges.

Honestly wish I'd been able to tick more of grow's options than 2. Jess is attentive, thoughtful, direct, and has a sense of humor that meshes well with my own Gen X tendency towards gallows humor. She's also gentle but gets to the heart of matters and will point it out if I'm up to some avoidant shenanigans. Highly recommend.
