Hi there! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been working in the field for over 8 years and practicing outpatient therapy for 3 years. I have experience providing support to people of different age ranges including adolescents, young adults and older adults. I also have experience in treating a wide range of conditions including mood disorders, personality disorders, trauma and stress disorders.
During our first few sessions, we will identify what you as the client feels is the most prevalent issue to work on and collaborate to make a plan on addressing it. I will also end our sessions by encouraging you to identify one way you can care for yourself that day. I believe in empowering my clients to show up for themselves outside of our sessions if even in small ways.
I offer a person-centered approach to therapy and empower my clients to live a life that truly honors who they are. Interventions I tend to use are psychoeducation, DBT, CBT and motivational interviewing. However, my client and I will establish what type of treatment will work best for them.
Do you just need someone to talk to? A safe, judgement-free space to process the daily stressors of life? Maybe you are less focused on being diagnosed and want to learn how to better manage your emotions, or improve your interpersonal skills. In addition to being that judgement-free listening ear, I would like to offer a holistic, client-centered treatment that empowers you to meet your personal therapy goals.
Kennise Baker offers therapy covered by Kaiser Permanente - Medicaid and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Virginia.
I've been using CBT as a base for treatment for the past 3 years. Providing strategies for client to independently identify, process and challenge thoughts, behaviors and feelings the lead to depression and anxiety
I have incorporated psychoanalysis into my treatment for the past 3 years. Creating a safe space for clients to share their thoughts freely through active listening and exploring patterns of feelings/emotions and processing.
I have been using DBT as a part of my treatment approach for the past year and a half. Providing psychoeducation on emotional regulation and distress tolerance strategies, while helping client find ways to apply them to daily life stressors
I have incorporated psychoanalysis into my treatment for the past 3 years. I believe in empowering my clients to learn more about their condition and how to manage them. Sessions will sometimes include education about strategies for coping and symptoms to expect with certain diagnoses
I believe my clients are experts of themselves. Thus, I like to collaborate with my clients on treatment goal development and allow for flexibility on how we meet them.
