Welcome to the start of your healing journey! I am McKenna Sharpe, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to guiding you through this transformative process. With extensive experience counseling teenagers and young adults, I specialize in addressing complex trauma, mental health such as depression or anxiety, Commercial Sexual Exploitation, crisis intervention, and behavioral challenges. My approach integrates trauma-informed care, faith-based counseling, and holistic treatment modalities, grounded in the belief that love is the most powerful treatment. My commitment is to meet you where you are, providing compassionate support and encouragement as you work toward your goals and seek healing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In virtual therapy sessions with me, you can expect a supportive and empathetic environment where your feelings and experiences are valued. While our sessions will be conducted online, I strive to create a space that mirrors the warmth and openness of in-person meetings. Just as I once sat on the floor with clients, played games, listened to music, or allowed them space to express their emotions, I am committed to providing the same level of care and attention through our virtual interactions. My goal is to ensure you feel seen, heard, supported, loved, and guided as we work together toward your healing and growth. It’s important to highlight that this is a PROCESS. I always encourage clients to give themselves grace and be kind to their own minds. This is not a quick fix; rather, it is a process of exploring and addressing the deeper roots of your experiences. During this time, we will work together to identify, examine, or address these roots based on how they are contributing to your life, decisions, or behaviors. This thoughtful approach aims to promote lasting growth and well-being.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Both personally and professionally, I strive to be caring, loving, and empathetic. I bring strong interpersonal skills and effective communication to our sessions, ensuring that our interactions are clear, honest, and straightforward. I believe honesty is very important on both ends in order to establish a foundation built on trust. Additionally, my goal is to ensure that you never feel alone throughout this process. My approach is both supportive and challenging, creating a positive and engaging environment that encourages your growth and healing. However, my biggest strength is the faith and relationship I have with God that has healed, transformed, and restored me. This has led to have a desire in my heart for others to experience the same level of healing and all-encompassing love that I have received!

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I have used Trauma Informed Care to ensure that clients are provided with the space and opportunity to process through their experiences and trauma narrative while also addressing cognitive distortions in order to establish internal peace.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist clients with identifying negative or unhealthy thinking patterns and replace them with reality based alternatives. This may come with establishing new coping strategies, identifying core beliefs, and developing healthy thinking patterns.

Faith based therapy

I have used Faith Based Therapy with those that desire for God to be incorporated into their treatment. I believe that God is the ultimate healer/ Therapist. It is with the faith and love of God that all things are possible and able to be made whole. We do not have to carry heavy burdens alone, God is looking to lift these things that make us feel broken off of our shoulders. It is God's heart for us to be restored and healed. We are seen, heard, and loved always.
