Hi, I’m Dr. Chinyere Ofoegbu, (DNP) a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and women’s health nurse practitioner. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals navigating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, eating and sleep disorders, postpartum depression, schizophrenia, ADHD, and alcohol use concerns.

With over 10 years of combined experience in psychiatry and women’s health, I approach care with both clinical expertise and genuine empathy.

My goal is to help you find stability, confidence, and a greater sense of emotional balance through personalized, collaborative treatment. With over 10 years of combined experience in psychiatry and women’s health, I approach care with both clinical expertise and genuine empathy. I believe healing begins with feeling understood, and I strive to create a safe space where you can explore challenges openly and move toward meaningful change.

First session

During our first session, you can expect a calm, welcoming environment where we focus on getting to know each other and understanding your goals. I’ll ask about your concerns, history, and what you’d like to achieve through treatment. There’s no rush—our conversations move at your pace. Together, we’ll begin crafting a personalized plan that may include therapy, medication support, lifestyle changes, or a combination of approaches. My priority is to ensure you feel heard, supported, and comfortable from the very beginning.

Strengths

Clients often describe my approach as calm, nonjudgmental, and empowering. I integrate proven methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), medication management, trauma-informed care, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Focused Therapy, when appropriate. I help clients understand the “why” behind their symptoms and build practical tools they can use right away. My goal is to meet you where you are, honor your lived experiences, and support your progress toward measurable improvements in mood, daily functioning, and overall well-being.

Ideal clients

I work best with individuals who are looking for compassionate, structured, and collaborative support to manage conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, eating and sleep disorders, schizophrenia, postpartum mood concerns, and alcohol use challenges. My ideal clients are motivated to understand their symptoms, open to learning new coping strategies, and ready to take steps toward emotional growth and recovery. Together, we’ll focus on building stability, resilience, and a stronger sense of self.

Treatment methods

Reality Therapy

During my clinical rotation, I use CBT to care for depressive patients. Using CBT to care for depression involves assessing symptoms and setting goals, educating the patient about depression, increasing activity through behavioral activation, identifying negative thoughts, using cognitive restructuring to challenge and replace them, building problem-solving skills, and planning for relapse prevention. This creates a structured, collaborative approach that helps improve mood and functioning.

By the end of the session, I really like Chinyere. She has a calm demeanor and was both inquisitive and attentive, especially with regard to an approach grounded in listening to yourself and paying attention to what nourishes you spiritually - and discarding that which doesn't.
