I received my Master of Social Work degree form Marywood University in 1991, and Licensing Clinical Social Worker status in 1993. I received a Certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and for the past five years I have been training at the Feeling Good Institute in Palo Alto, California. Most of my work is now telehealth as my husband has medical problems. I enjoy playing "fiddle" with local musician friends, and I am a proud grandma!
I start with connecting with you; what brings you to therapy and the history of the problem. How you feel about it and how it has caused such difficulty. I use deep empathy to understand to the best of my ability and to join you in your struggle.
I want to develop a close empathetic relationship with you right away so that you will feel completely safe sharing how you are feeling and thinking. It's hard to let someone know your deepest darkest thoughts. As you feel more confident in our relationship, I can help you learn healthier ways of thinking that will reduce symptoms immediately, and in the future.
I have found success working with people who suffer with depression and anxiety, habits and addictions, and relationship problems. Clients who are willing to do reading, and other practice activities between sessions find improvement of mood quickly. Our work focuses on learning Mental HEALTH, and ways to maintain that health.
