My approach is unique in that I don't just focus on your symptoms and observable behaviors. I work with you to go "behind the scenes" of what lies underneath your thoughts, feelings and actions that has caused the problems you're experiencing now. My work focuses on helping you move from feeling stuck to becoming empowered to overcome personal life challenges and conflicts within yourself or with others. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I bring over 20 years' experience and training that will come to bare in our work together. I have worked in various settings and served diverse populations, including acute in-patient, sub-acute, partial hospitalization, crisis residential, child and adolescent programs and in private practice. My experience and training have allowed me the privilege to serve clients with both complex and chronic mental health challenges.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our work together, you can expect a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and choices. It’s a space that’s free of judgment, and you won’t be told what to do or how to think. Instead, you will be empowered to tap-into your own internal resources to find solutions. You will be inspired to listen and to trust your own voice that gives you the confidence to discover your authentic self.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

What you will find is a genuine and supportive person who believes in not only in your ability to overcome your problems but to regain control of your life again. You will find that my attitude reflects that, I don't just believe change and healing is possible...It's expected. My 20 years of experience and training will serve your needs in a way that accepts you openly and non-judgmentally, and one who truly believes your ability to make positive change.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I help clients find answers, to resolve personal or interpersonal conflicts, job stress, life transitions, or knowing how to overcome unwanted negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I work with both individuals and families.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My clients are seen as the expert, and we work together in a collaborative way to tackle the root cause of the problem, whether it manifests in anxiety or depression or a conflict you're looking to resolve. I won’t waste your time by trying to invent “good advice”, prescribe special coping skills, or give you “homework”. I’m sure you’ve had enough of that from others who meant well, but it didn’t help you solve your problems. The work is focused on attending closely and keenly to the ebb and flow of your thoughts, emotions, and perceptions by actively listening, asking open-ended and curious questions that lead you to your own awareness, insights, and resolutions, and it all happens in your own time and on your own terms.

Existential

When working together, I will not only be actively listening to you, but you will be encouraged to explore and listen to your own thoughts and expressions which sometimes include subjects that may be hard or you're hesitant to discuss. I will ask curious, open-ended questions while attending to you in a way that helps you to speak freely and openly about the problem in a way the leads to greater insight and awareness leading you to discover your own solutions.
