Tamara George
Hello Beautiful human! My name is Tamara, pronounced like Camera with a 'T.' I utilize a variety of different modalities to best support my clients as I demonstrate an individualized, person-centered approach to treatment. I focus on a collaborative approach to care as we journey together in growth and healing. I provide a safe and supportive environment to explore and process thoughts and feelings, while offering challenges to promote growth and healing. My journey to becoming a counselor began with my own self-discovery and healing. I became a counselor to be the safe space for others that I wished I had when I needed it most. After connecting deeply with my psychology and counseling classes, I decided that becoming a counselor was the path I was meant to be on.
First session
In our first session, we will collaborate upon intake assessments. While completing documentation we will also be learning one another's personalities, to assess if both client and counselor are a good fit to progress in healing and growth. We will address any preferences, strengths, challenges and any questions that may arise. We will spend time discussing your background, current stressors and any pivotal moments in your life, you feel comfortable disclosing in the first session.
Strengths
I believe the client-therapist relationship is key to effective therapy. I provide a safe, confidential, judgment-free space. My approach to treatment stands out as I meet my clients where they are at. I can be warm and empathetic, or challenging in a non-judgmental approach to help elicit change. In sessions, we may utilize humor and laugh or delve into and process patterns and hidden meanings. I provide authenticity to help normalize being human while respecting appropriate boundaries. I pull from various modalities including CBT, person-centered, feminist, motivational interviewing, TF-CBT and solution-focused therapy.
