Hello and welcome! I am Elisabeth Contreras, a bilingual (Spanish/English) Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist offering services to clients in the State of California. I received my bachelors degree in Psychology in 2005 and Masters degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy in 2013. With 10years of experience, I specialize in working with children, transitional age youth and families.
In our first session we will begin with an introduction and explore what brings you to therapy. If you're new to therapy, we will also take some time to go over what therapy entails, and, hopefully, reduce any worries. I believe that each individual is unique, therefore, I personalize treatment and find the therapeutic modality that works best for you, your needs, and your goals.
My greatest strength lies in my empathy and genuine care for my clients. I'm here to listen, understand, and support you without judgment. My ability to actively listen creates a safe and welcoming space where you can freely express your thoughts and emotions. I specialize in supporting adolescents and young adults through the unique challenges they encounter during this transformative phase of life. Whether it's navigating the complexities of romantic, family, or friendship relationships, coping with work-related stressors, or managing the ups and downs of general life transitions, we will work through it together. For relationships, we'll delve into communication patterns, boundaries, and healthy dynamics to help foster more fulfilling connections. With work stressors, we'll explore tools to manage pressures, find balance, and cultivate resilience in your professional life. And as life takes unexpected turns, I'll provide guidance to adapt, grow, and embrace the changes with confidence. Together, we'll create a process that leads to personal growth, increased self-awareness, and the skills needed to navigate the complexities of life with strength and grace.
I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults who are struggling with relationship challenges, job stress, life transitions, work-life balance and impacts of past trauma. Through our work together, I will guide and support you as you shift towards developing a healthier relationship with yourself and others. My style is warm, compassionate, interactive and I use curiosity to help you discover new ways of thinking and explore new perspectives. Through our collaboration, we will uncover your strengths as I support you to create the positive change you are seeking.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into my practice, collaboratively working with clients to identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, modify behaviors, and develop practical skills, empowering individuals to make positive changes and enhance their overall well-being.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I actively engage clients to explore and amplify their strengths, identify achievable goals, and develop practical solutions, fostering a proactive and empowering approach to positive change.
Trauma Informed Care
Many of my clients are in therapy with me because of trauma they experienced at one point in their lives. I use trauma-informed care to ensure the client feels safe and to help them share their story. With trauma-informed care, I teach skills clients can use to challenge negative thoughts about themselves and to help them feel safe in different environments.
Strength-Based
I utilize a strength-based approach, recognizing and amplifying the inherent resilience and capabilities of individuals, empowering them to harness their strengths in overcoming challenges and achieving positive personal growth.

After our intake session, I already felt very comfortable with her. She was thorough in her questioning while still making natural conversation. I really appreciated her humor and that I had a space to be humorous.
