Tracey H. Preston
I work with individuals across the lifespan experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, stress, and other mental health concerns. My goal is to create a supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself. Together, we’ll build a personalized treatment plan that fits your needs, which may include medication when appropriate. I believe in treating the whole person, not just a diagnosis, and working at a pace that feels right for you. I want each visit to feel supportive, respectful, and productive, with care that reflects your goals, experiences, and strengths.
First session
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a safe, welcoming foundation for care. We’ll talk through what brought you to treatment, your current concerns, and what you’re hoping to get out of our work together. My goal is for you to leave that first visit feeling heard, supported, and clear on next steps.
Strengths
My approach to patient care is shaped not only by my professional training but also by my personal life experiences. Growing up in a large family with limited resources taught me the importance of resilience, adaptability, and compassion for people facing challenges beyond their control. These experiences helped me develop an appreciation for the diverse circumstances that influence a person's mental health and well-being. They also reinforced the value of treating every individual with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, financial situation, or life circumstances. Having navigated significant life transitions, including divorce and a career change in my mid-thirties, I understand that change can be both difficult and transformative. These experiences have strengthened my ability to empathize with patients facing uncertainty, loss, relationship challenges, and major life decisions. My faith has also been an important source of strength, purpose, and perspective throughout my journey. While I respect and support individuals of all beliefs and backgrounds, my faith-based values of compassion, service, and hope guide my commitment to meeting patients where they are, helping them feel heard, and providing comprehensive, person-centered mental health care to all who entrust me with the opportunity to serve them. Each patient I encounter will be heard and allowed ample time to express their needs and collaborate with me to obtain their version of living their best life.
Ideal clients
I am committed to serving individuals from all backgrounds, cultures, identities, and walks of life. Mental health care should be accessible, compassionate, and tailored to the unique needs of each person. Whether someone is seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, or other mental health concerns, I am honored to walk alongside them in their path toward wellness. It is a privilege to provide care to anyone who entrusts me with their mental health needs, and I am dedicated to helping each patient achieve their goals and improve their overall quality of life. My approach emphasizes collaboration, empathy, and evidence-based care. I work closely with patients to develop individualized treatment plans that align with their values, goals, and circumstances. I believe that healing occurs when people feel empowered, supported, and understood, and I am committed to helping each person discover their strengths, build resilience, and create lasting positive change.
Treatment methods
Faith-based therapy
Faith-based therapy is a counseling approach that incorporates a person's religious or spiritual beliefs into the therapeutic process when those beliefs are important to the individual. It combines evidence-based mental health treatment with the client's faith traditions, values, and spiritual practices. The goal is to help individuals use their faith as a source of strength, hope, meaning, and resilience while addressing emotional, behavioral, or psychological concerns. Depending on the person's beliefs and preferences, therapy may include discussion of spiritual values, prayer, scripture, forgiveness, gratitude, religious coping strategies, or participation in a faith community. Faith-based therapy is always client-centered and should respect the individual's beliefs and level of religious involvement. It is not intended to replace standard mental health treatment but rather to integrate spiritual resources into the treatment plan when appropriate. This approach can be particularly helpful for individuals who view their faith as an important part of their identity and recovery.
