My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT in my practice since I became a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. CBT is a structured form of talk therapy focused on helping my clients recognize and change negative or unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. I will use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. Then I use that knowledge to change your thinking which leads to improved coping mechanisms and management of mental health conditions like anxiety and depression.

Motivational Interviewing

Since becoming a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I have integrated Motivational Interviewing (MI) into my practice. MI is a therapeutic approach that focuses on helping individuals explore and resolve their ambivalence about change. I use MI to help clients recognize when their current situation doesn't align with their values or goals. By offering support and encouragement, I aim to help clients build confidence in their ability to make changes. I also strive to create a non-judgmental, open environment where patients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings.

She goes out of her way to see if I'm doing alright and would respond to private messages in a reasonable timeframe. She even called me outside of her work schedule to check on me when I least expect that to happen. She's a keeper and one of the few who actually cares and aren't settling on doing the bare minimum to get a paycheck.
