New to Grow
Greetings. The very fact that you're reading this tells me that a part of you is already seeking a new way of being. I am a client-centered therapist with over twenty five years of experience working in the mental health field supporting children, teens, adults and families in a variety of professional roles. I work with a firm belief that therapy is most effective when its collaborative and grounded in trust. My passion is supporting clients as they navigate through life's transitions and unexpected events, process the emotions that come with change, and build resilience as they move towards becoming their most authentic selves. My approach honors their autonomy and strengths as we work to build coping skills, increase self-awareness and create meaningful and lasting change.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session we'll take some time to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy, discuss goals and what you hope to gain. You're always in control of what you share and, we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable to you without any pressure. We'll also discuss some practical details such as confidentiality and scheduling. Most importantly, we'll work together to decide if this is the right fit for you and your journey.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my greatest strengths is the ability to work with people from all walks of life. I bring a culturally sensitive, empathetic approach to therapy. I focus on practical coping skills, boundary-building and emotional growth while creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and empowered. My goal is to help you reconnect with yourself and build sustainable, meaningful change.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are teenagers and adults trying to navigate life's transitions and the many feelings that come with them while processing the emotional challenges along the way. I am passionate about supporting clients on their journey toward authenticity, self-acceptance and living unapologetically.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand how their thoughts influence their emotions and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns, develop healthier ways of thinking and practice new coping skills that will lead to meaningful, lasting change.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients take a step back from unhelpful thoughts by teaching them to observe thoughts instead to automatically believing them. Through a variety of interventions, clients learn to see thoughts as passing mental events reducing their power and influence.
Compassion Focused
I use Compassion Focused Therapy to help clients reduce shame and self-criticism to create emotional safety and a more supportive relationship with themselves.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a tool that I have use to help clients explore their ambivalence, help strengthen their motivation and make changes that are in alignment with their personal values. This is a collaborative, nonjudgemental tool that can empower clients to choose their pace and direction of their growth. Autonomy is at the center of this therapy with the foundational belief that the client is the expert in their own life.
Psychodynamic
I use Psychodynamic Therapy to help clients understand how past experiences and unconscious patterns shape their current emotions and relationships. The client and I build supportive therapeutic relationship where insight and reflection are used to help them gain self-awareness and make meaningful, lasting change.
