About me

Greetings! I'm Dr. Victoria Hernandez, a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I started my educational journey by completing my bachelor's degree at University of Texas at Arlington. I completed my doctorate degree at the University of the Incarnate Word to follow. I have been practicing for 3 years and have found that helping others is my true passion. I provide compassionate and effective psychiatric care to clients, all while ensuring that physical wellbeing is also a top priority.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

At our first session, we will collaborate to establish a personalized treatment plan that addresses your unique needs. We will also work on collaborative goal setting, and objectives by which you can achieve your goals. Clients are encouraged to complete to PHQ-9 and GAD-7 prior to this session, to help me understand the severity of symptoms. I look forward to assisting you on your mental health wellness journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I offer a wide range of psychiatric services, including medication management, therapy, and wellness education. My greatest strength as a provider, is that I provide comprehensive and integrated care to my clients, addressing both their physical and emotional health needs. I also pride myself in collaborating with clients to identify measurable goals and objectives that clients can implement easily and effectively into their daily routines.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Ideal clients should come prepared to session. It is important to be an active participant in your mental health journey. This includes arriving on time, completing any requested questionnaires, and communicating openly about symptoms, side effects, concerns, and goals. Progress is usually gradual, and consistent follow-through between visits (for example, taking medications as prescribed and practicing recommended coping skills) makes a meaningful difference.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My overall experience with CBT has been rewarding, both for my clients and for my own personal growth as a provider. Using a collaborative and client-centered approach to help clients develop healthier thought patterns and behaviors, CBT has been particularly effective in fostering resilience and promoting lasting change.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

My experience with mindfulness-based therapy has helped many clients develop healthier coping mechanisms and improve their overall quality of life.

Psychoeducation

Integrated with medication management, I provide psychoeducation to my clients for the goal of improving their quality of life and well-being. By providing knowledge about mental health conditions, challenges, and coping strategies, my clients and I can collaborate to develop personal management skills and an understanding of their treatment options.
