Welcome! I'm a Licensed Client Social Worker based in Virginia. I received my Masters from Walden University and have been practicing for 6 years. I enjoy working with individuals who desire to improve their quality of life. I desire to tailor your treatment to your needs. There are many challenges in life and it requires more than a cookie-cutter approach.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session together, my goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where you can begin to feel at ease. Here’s an overview of what to expect: Introduction and Welcome: We’ll start by getting to know each other. I’ll explain the structure of our sessions and answer any questions you might have about the therapy process. Understanding Your Goals: I’ll ask you about your reasons for seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve. This helps me understand your needs and tailor our work together to best support your goals. Discussion of Your Background: We’ll explore your personal history, including any relevant experiences, current challenges, and significant events that may be impacting you. This helps build a comprehensive understanding of your context and concerns. Setting Goals and Expectations: We’ll discuss what you would like to work on in therapy and establish some initial goals. This is also a good time to talk about any preferences you have regarding the therapeutic process. Reviewing Confidentiality and Policies: I’ll explain the confidentiality of our sessions and review any policies related to scheduling, cancellations, and payment to ensure you are fully informed. Initial Assessment: Depending on the nature of your concerns, we may begin to assess certain aspects of your mental health, such as emotional well-being, coping strategies, and areas for growth. Next Steps: We’ll outline a plan for our future sessions, including potential topics for discussion and any initial strategies or exercises that might be helpful. My aim is to make this first session as comfortable and informative as possible, setting a foundation for a positive therapeutic relationship. If you have any questions or concerns at any point, please feel free to share them.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past 6 years. It has been most helpful for clients who experience challenges related to reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. During your therapeutic journey, we will utilize techniques to help recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. While utilizing those techniques, we will use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In Person-Centered Therapy, the core belief is that you have an innate capacity for personal growth and self-healing. As your therapist, my role is to offer genuine empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence. By fostering a trusting and accepting relationship, I aim to help you explore your thoughts and feelings openly, allowing you to gain greater self-awareness and make meaningful changes in your life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is delivered through individual therapy sessions and skills training groups. In individual therapy, we work together to address your unique challenges and goals. My goal with DBT is to empower you with tools to navigate emotional difficulties, build stronger relationships, and lead a more fulfilling life. Whether you’re struggling with intense emotions or seeking to enhance your coping strategies, DBT offers a comprehensive framework to help you achieve lasting change.
