New to Grow
Hi there! I'm Carolyn, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in New Jersey, and I want you to know that I really see you; your struggles, your hopes, your raw emotions. With over 18 years of heartfelt experience, I've had the pleasure of walking alongside adults and adolescents 16 and older, as they navigate life's challenges; anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, ADHD, and those overwhelming life transitions that can leave us feeling lost or disconnected. If you're battling feelings of anxiety, loneliness, or just going through the motion’s day after day, please know, you are not alone. These feelings are common, and what you're going through really matters. My goal is to create a welcoming space where you can finally feel truly heard from our very first conversation. I draw from a diverse range of therapeutic approaches; cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-informed techniques, solution-focused, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing; to craft a path that feels right for you. I believe therapy should be about connection, understanding, and genuine growth, not just techniques. I get how tough it is to stay motivated, manage complicated emotions, build authentic connections, or keep your routines intact. But please remember, you're stronger than you realize, and you don’t have to face these struggles alone. I’m here to walk with you, to support and empower you as we uncover the strengths you already possess. Together, we can face any challenge, celebrate our strengths, inspire hope, and create a more satisfying and meaningful life.
In our first session, I’d love to get to know you better by talking about what brings you to therapy. We’ll go through some questions about your background and experiences; things like how you’ve handled challenges before, how you manage tough emotions, what your self-care looks like, and what you’re hoping to achieve, all to help me understand your unique needs. If you’re not ready to share everything right away, that’s completely okay. We can take things at your pace and discuss the more difficult topics when you’re comfortable. Together, we’ll start to identify what feels stuck and what changes you’re truly wishing to make. I’ll also help clarify what goals are meaningful for you so we can create a plan that’s realistic and feels true to you. I know reaching out and asking for help can be nerve-wracking, but please remember, I’m here for you every step of the way. Feel free to share whatever you’re comfortable with, and don’t hesitate to ask questions if anything comes up. I’m here to support and guide you through this journey!
I'm dedicated to creating a supportive and comfortable environment where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and concerns. I have experience working with adults and teens aged 16 and up managing symptoms related to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, and life's big changes. Each session is tailored to your unique needs, and I use a person-centered approach, blending techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness to best support you. My hope is to understand your individual story and provide guidance that's right for where you are in your journey. I’ve been fortunate to see clients reach their goals and develop new skills to manage their well-being, often leading to the natural conclusion of therapy when the time is right. Together, we can set meaningful goals that truly reflect what you’re aiming for. I’m here to support you every step of the way as you work toward reaching your full potential.
I feel truly lucky to have the opportunity to walk alongside both adults and adolescents aged 16 and up as they go through the many twists and turns of life. Whether it's dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, ADHD, or those big life changes that can sometimes leave us feeling lost or disconnected, I’m here to support you. I also have experience working with some of our brave military men and women, helping them handle everyday challenges, whether related to their service or just daily life. Some people I work with find it difficult to express what they need, set boundaries, or feel steady in their relationships. Others might feel stuck and unsure how to move forward. I really enjoy working with people who are ready to take control and make small, yet meaningful, changes. I invite you to meet me halfway; together, we can work through whatever’s on your mind.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I've really enjoyed working with clients to help manage anxiety and depression, and to lessen those stubborn, unwanted thoughts through CBT. Together, we'll dive into understanding how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are all connected. Then, we'll focus on replacing those negative thoughts with healthier, more realistic ones, which can really improve how you feel overall.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
In my practice, I love blending mindfulness techniques with cognitive behavioral methods to help clients stay more present and connected in the moment. Bringing these approaches together can really strengthen your ability to manage stress and challenging emotions with greater ease.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a warm, collaborative approach that really centers on the person. I use it to gently support and encourage individuals as they navigate toward positive changes in their lives.
Trauma Informed Care
I often use this approach because trauma is quite common. My main goal is to create a warm, supportive space where healing can happen, rather than just focusing on the symptoms.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I like to take a future-focused, goal-driven approach, which helps me to concentrate more on solutions rather than dwelling on problems. My main goal is to support your success and celebrate your achievements.
