Hello ! I am Sergio Fernando Gueller, LCSW, I am an American citizen and love our Blessed country with all my heart; I am also an immigrant from Latin America, Argentina, who arrived to this country at age 19 (I am currently 65), "tired and poor" and escaping an unstable political environment and difficult socioeconomic perspectives. I completed my training in Europe and Latin America through my participation in many seminars and obtaining several certifications in this field, however, all my formal education took place in California and Oregon, in the USA. My approach to psychotherapy is eclectic and practical and am focused on providing immediate alleviation and crisis resolution to my clients via powerful cognitive/behavioral tools which I use daily in my practice. I am a simple person and my approach is formal and respectful, however, I use respectful/sensitive humor and levity therapeutically when appropriate as I believe it is a major part of my method.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is an "assessment" which is a psycho/social evaluation to find out where the client is at. My approach is very "non threatening" and I use a very specific methodology to arrive to the presenting problems. I have had major success in my career utilizing my approach to engagement in psychotherapy, which is the first step.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Perhaps what makes me unique is my multicultural approach and my training as a "generalist".

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am dedicated to alleviating anxiety, depression, and emotional and psychological pain, in general terms for my clients. Any person presenting with these issues will benefit promptly from my interventions, in my opinion. I have dedicated the past thirty years as a therapist and the past forty years of my life to doing research in the fields of psychoeducation and my particular train of thought and philosophical approach to treatment which is existentialism. This school of thought basically places a high degree of empowerment on the client by allowing the client to understand the power of mindfulness, the "here and now", and to actively participate in their treatment, rehabilitation and "cure".

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

the method includes therapeutic confrontation, it reduces the treatment length, it is very concrete in its' approach and clients see immediate results

Psychodynamic

the method is based in psychoanalysis, which explores the psychogenesis of traumatic behavior and experiences and it is explorative in terms of understanding dynamics of early development that led to the formation of maladaptive behaviors/thinking
