LPC, 3 years of experience
Hello, I’m Katrina. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor. My clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, families, and adults in the private, outpatient settings. I strive to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their feelings and achieve personal growth. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, where each client’s unique needs and strengths are honored. I use an eclectic approach tailored to each client’s individual needs. Some modalities I utilize are mindfulness approaches, person-centered, expressive arts therapy, positive psychology, DBT, and CBT.
In our first session, we will take the time to explore what brings you to therapy, understand your background, and develop goals for our work together in therapy. I will ask open-ended questions to understand your experiences and give you the space to share any questions or concerns about the therapeutic experience. My goal is to ensure you feel comfortable, validated, and equipped with a course of action by the end of our session.
My greatest strengths lie in my ability to create a warm and safe environment for my clients to be open and vulnerable. I balance that warmth with directness as needed and help develop insight into your inner world that promotes real change. I am an active listener who helps clients feel safe and understood while also challenging unhealthy beliefs and stuck points. I integrate mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, and coping skills to help clients develop resilience and confidence in their ability to navigate life’s ups and downs.
I work best with adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and self-esteem concerns. My approach is particularly effective for individuals who are motivated for treatment and eager to collaborate on improving their mental health.

One of the things I really appreciate about Katrina is the way she makes me think about my behaviors and patterns in a way that I might have otherwise dismissed as routine. Pretty much every suggestion she has made has been spot on and really helpful in the context of moving through and beyond my divorce. She is also very relatable and it's helpful that I get her references and don't need to change my way of speaking for her to get where I'm coming from.

I was looking for a therapist who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy and could help me understand where my issues stem from based on my past experiences. Katrina has been very helpful in getting me to think about it more and take steps to improve my situation.

I did most of the talking today because this was our first session, but it didn't feel fair to put "I'm not sure" because Katrina was nice and I do feel like the conversation was building towards establishing goals for me the next time we meet.
