My name is Megan and my journey has not been a straight road. In 2012 I decided I wanted a career change and went back to school to be a therapist. With a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, I luckily did not have to completely start over but did need some psych classes before I started graduate school. In 2015 I graduated with my Master’s of Arts in Counseling Psychology. I mention this because I know what it’s like to lack passion and need a change with the current situation. I felt anxious and overwhelmed with the unknown road ahead. Although, the future is never known, I am confident and happy with the decision I made.
The first session is going to be more of a getting to know each other session; what you're experiencing, your past, family, etc and goal setting. Each session after is what you feel is most important to discuss that week. While also following up on progress towards any short terms goals we set. You can also expect to be listened to and supported by me. We will collaborate together on the best path to help you with whatever you are struggling with (anxiety, depression, family conflict, etc). You will be validated, heard, and supported by me in our work together. You will be accepted for being you authentic and true selves.
I utilize a person-centered approach and incorporate elements of mindfulness, CBT, motivational interviewing and solution focused based therapy. My approach in therapy is based on the individual needs of each person or couple I work with.
I believe my biggest strength is building therapeutic rapport. The most important part of therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist. It's crucial that you feel comfortable, safe, and heard. I strive to create that environment (even virtually) with clients.
