(she/her)
Hello and welcome! My name is Maritza and I’m a Bilingual, First-generation, Mexican-American, eldest daughter, who aligns with the LGBTQ+ community. I have lived experience that allows me to bring you support through a deeply empathic, understanding lens. I’m committed to supporting you in ways that honor your individual identities and cultural backgrounds. I use a mixed approach to tailor therapy to your specific needs, such as EMDR, narrative therapy, solution focused and/or CBT, to help you process complex trauma and manage emotional or behavioral challenges. I approach therapy with cultural sensitivity, aiming to understand how background, heritage, and personal experiences shape one’s access to resources and wellbeing. I believe in creating a safe, inclusive space where we can build a strong therapeutic relationship to foster healing and growth, always respecting your story and unique needs. My goal is to empower you to overcome obstacles and move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life that isn't negatively defined by your hardships.
In our first session together, we'll start with getting to know each other and determining if Telehealth is the right fit for your unique needs. You can utilize the space to share about yourself including strengths and challenges you're facing. I will continue listening to your story at your pace, in following sessions. My goal is to foster a secure, judgement-free space where you feel seen and heard, to help us determine if we are a right fit for each other.
I practice being a secure base of support and acceptance in order to help clients heal attachment wounds and negative core beliefs about themselves and the world around them. The adversities I've navigated and identities I hold, help me validate my clients with genuine understanding. I enjoy learning from my clients and listening to their stories attentively and reflectively, in a judgement-free, welcoming space. I help guide my clients through difficult or challenging conversations to foster growth and self-awareness as needed.
I enjoy working with and supporting clients who have experienced major/complex trauma, narcissistic abuse and those who carry Insecure Attachment wounds. I've served a diverse population of clients varying in needs, age, sexuality, and ethnic backgrounds.
As a Therapist in the process of becoming EMDR certified, I integrate EMDR (eye movement desensitization & reprocessing) techniques to help you process trauma and emotional challenges. I am trained in using this evidence-based approach involving bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements) to help reprocess distressing memories, reduce their emotional impact and improve core beliefs associated with the memories. I work to ensure you feel safe and supported throughout the process, adapting the approach to meet your unique needs and fostering healing at your own pace.
I combine a variety of approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Reparenting/Inner child work and Psychodynamic techniques, to tailor each session to your unique needs. My goal is to create a flexible, supportive space where we can work together to address and navigate challenges.
I am committed to supporting you through a culturally sensitive approach that respects and honors your unique background, experiences, and identities. I understand that culture plays a significant role in shaping how individuals perceive and navigate the world, and I strive to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and valued for who you are. My goal is to ensure that therapy feels inclusive, empowering, and respectful, fostering a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust and understanding.
