Amy Du
Hi, welcome! My name is Amy, & I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) licensed to practice in the state of California. I received my Master's Degree in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatric Mental Health across the lifespan from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California.
I have over 15 years of experience in nursing in both the medical & psychiatric field.
I have over 15 years of experience in nursing in both the medical & psychiatric field. I now own a private Integrative Psychiatry practice called Kai Integrative Psychiatry where I help children, teens, and adults find mental wellness through a combination of traditional psychiatric approaches (psychiatric medication management & psychotherapy) and complementary/alternative psychiatric modalities (natural supplement recommendations, nutrition & movement therapies, sleep optimization, etc.)
First session
In our first session together, we will do a comprehensive mental health evaluation - this is a time where you can talk uninterrupted about your experience. I will also ask you questions to gain a better understanding of your psychiatric & medical histories and what your goals are for treatment. I will then formulate a treatment plan tailored to your unique mental health needs.
Strengths
My greatest strength as a provider is my warm, non-judgmental approach. It is very important to me that my patients feel heard & understood. I also ensure patients know we are in this together - we are a team.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with children & their parents/caregivers, teens with or without their patents/caregivers, & adults who are new to psychiatric care and/or new to integrative psychiatry as they are eager to learn and open to trialing different approaches to mental health, such as lab testing to optimize vitamin D and vitamin B12, natural supplements, such as omega-3 fatty acids, and are open to diet, exercise, & sleep advice as well as the usual psychiatric medication management & psychotherapy.
Treatment methods
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing to help you find the motivation and skills to make changes you want to make.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to explore how your thoughts, feelings , and behaviors are all connected and how recognizing and changing certain thought patterns can lead to positive behavioral changes.
