Jamaika believes that every client is the expert in their own life. Her role as a therapist is to walk alongside clients offering support, insight, and guidance, while also challenging them when needed, so they can grow, heal, and move forward in a way that feels authentic. Her goal is to meet each person where they are while staying focused on their individual goals. Jamaika works with clients navigating a variety of life transitions, such as toxic relationships, building self-esteem, career or academic changes, or simply feeling stuck. Jamaika also supports individuals managing depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and other mental health challenges. While she serves a wide range of clients, Jamaika specializes in three areas: Elite & Professional Athletes: As a former Division I athlete, Jamaika understands the pressure, identity challenges, and performance demands athletes face. She enjoys working with athletes at all levels, whether they’re striving to stay at the top of their game or transitioning into life beyond sport. Domestic Violence & Abuse Survivors: Jamaika provides a safe, supportive space for individuals healing from emotional, physical, mental, or sexual abuse. She helps clients reclaim their voice, rebuild confidence, and move forward in their healing process. Substance Use & Addictions: Jamaika works with clients struggling with alcohol or drug misuse, helping them identify patterns and develop healthier coping strategies for lasting change. Her therapeutic approach is flexible and tailored to each client’s needs. She draws from a variety of modalities, including CBT, DBT, and trauma-focused treatments like EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). If faith and spirituality are important to a client, Jamaika is happy to incorporate Christian-based counseling upon request. Ultimately, her hope is that therapy feels like a safe and supportive space allowing clients to navigate life’s challenges, working toward a sense of peace, and emotional freedom.
The first session is all about getting to know you and laying the foundation for your therapy journey. We’ll start by going over a few assessments and gathering background information, including your personal history and what brought you to counseling. This helps me understand your needs and goals more clearly. By the end of the session, we’ll create a verbal care plan outlining what you’d like to achieve in therapy. I’ll also give you an idea of what to expect in future sessions. Most importantly, the first session is a space to begin building a strong therapeutic relationship and make sure you feel comfortable and supported moving forward.
My approach to therapy is flexible, person-centered, and deeply rooted in meeting clients where they are. I bring a balanced mix of being upbeat, straightforward, and easygoing, which helps create a comfortable and open space for clients to share. I value authenticity and use humor when appropriate to help build connection and ease. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method. Instead, I focus on adapting my style to fit the unique needs, goals, and personality of each client. Whether someone needs direct feedback, a listening ear, or space to process at their own pace, I adjust accordingly. One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to remain flexible and responsive to what each individual needs in the moment.

The basic principle behind this therapy is always the same regardless of the presenting issue: What we think, how we feel and how we behave are all closely connected – and all of these factors have a decisive influence on our well-being. When utilizing this treatment we look at how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected and how we can change them to develop better outcomes.
Helping my clients accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as helping them learn to change their lives, including their unhelpful and maladaptive behaviors
Faith Based Therapy is for my Christian clients. I am a Christian myself and though I do not limit my clientele with only seeing christians I do provide christian counseling for those upon request. Faith Based Therapy looks more at the problems/concerns/issues/diagnosis my clients are dealing with and refer to the Bible how to address the presenting problem(s). Faith Based Therapy still includes pscyhoeducational teachings and evidenced based practices but I incorporate and refer to the Bible as well.
I provide what's called ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) which is similar to EMDR however, instead of needing several sessions to resolve trauma we only would need one and in some cases maybe two - three session max. ART is something I use not only for Trauma but also for addictions, eating disorders, general anxiety, social anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD/ADD and especially for elite and professional athletes who struggle with mental challenges or blocks that prevents them from preforming in the game.
