I am a kink-aware, LGBTQ+, multicultural, alt lifestyle-affirming therapist. I provide a sex-positive, alt-inclusive, supportive environment to discuss all those things you have difficulty talking to your friends and family about. I work with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, life stressors, addiction, and trauma. I use humor and education to encourage emotional processing and understanding. I offer practical coping, communication and self regulation skills to help clients improve.
Our first session will be a lot of me getting to know you, you getting to know me and sharing whatever you feel comfortable with. I will be gathering information about what's going on, what you're looking for help with and how I can support you. You can share as much or as little as you want. I know it takes time to build trust and I don't expect you to divulge everything on a first visit.
I approach therapy from a place of no judgement. I am not here to give advice, I am here to help you look at things you feel are causing you distress or impacting your life in a negative way. I use humor, compassion, education and empathy to help clients explore their feelings, boundaries, communication style, behavior and general perspective on life.
I have extensive experience working with those in the LGBTQIA, ENM and alternative lifestyles. Historically clients have gravitated towards me for my non-judgmental, open approach and understanding that their life and their choices are their own. My position is to support, education, coach and help them deal with things they have not been able to work though on their own. Regardless of lifestyles and gender identities I find that most people struggle with similar issues resulting from past traumas, unsupportive childhoods, and toxic environments. I predominantly work with individual clients but I have extensive training with Gottman method couples therapy.
