New to Grow
I am semi-retired with over 30 years experience as a social worker. It's an honor to have had so many people trust me enough to talk about private matters. Most of my experience has been with people who have severe mental health problems and extremely difficult life circumstances. It's been a refreshing change to work with high functioning people who want help with common life challenges. At the same time, I'm prepared when clients have unexpected major life challenges.
During our first session we will talk about therapy expectations and I will interview you to complete an initial evaluation. We will create at least one treatment goal during the first session.
My greatest strength is hard for me to pin down. I guess I would say that I've been in the field so long that it's unlikely that a client could say something that would offend me.
My ideal client is someone who can express their feelings. My ideal client is someone who is open to trying new therapy strategies.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I dabble in a variety of therapeutic modalities (CBT, psychodynamic, ACT, humanistic, existential), however Person-centered describes me the best because I see the therapeutic relationship as a partnership, rather than a hierarchy, and the client is always the expert regarding their own experiences and emotions.
