Hello! Congratulations on choosing to seek out therapy. Your choice to make this decision informs me that you are on the right path! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and have been working as a mental health therapist for a few years. The diversity of my experience as a therapist, has allowed me to interact with people from a variety of different races, ages, sexual orientations, cultures, socio-economic status and so much more!
Our first session together is typically an introduction session. In the session i usually want to get to know my client, I might ask some assessment questions initially then dive into the presenting problem. By the end of the session, we will typically have an idea of what we will be working on, and i usually give out a "therapy goal" assignment to the client to bring back for the next session. This helps the client and me, to agree on the goals that we are going to be working on, and we typically revisit the goal weeks down the line to assess progress.
My approach is geared towards assisting you in reaching the goals that you have set for yourself. However, I acknowledge that implementing these goals can be challenging. I will meet you where you are, and work with you to acknowledge and celebrate small victories while working towards bigger ones. Therapy is a joint effort; it requires the commitment and willingness of both parties to attain success; as we define it. I am committed to your wellness and willing and ready to do my part. Hopefully, you are as well, let's work together!
CBT method allows the client to be able to become aware of their thought process and identify how their thought processes may induce negative feelings and emotions. I have used this technique for the past six years with clients who are dealing with anxiety, depression, self esteem issues, relationship issues and so much more
Strength-based treatment methods are included in every session that I have with the client. I think that it is important for people to be able to recognize their areas of strength and improvement, even while in crisis.
Positive psychology is similar to the strength based method, in the sense that we are still highlighting your strengths. However, in positive psychology, we go further in helping the client identify areas in their life that are causing the crisis and we process how to handle these issues so that the client is leaving a more meaningful life
