Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Virginia. I have a Master's Degree in Social Work from Radford University, located in Radford Virginia. I have been in private practice since 2015 in which I serve a broad range of clients who are seeking help with a range of mental health issues. I enjoy working with clients and helping them find ways of coping that best meets there needs and emotional wellness!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, client's should expect a relaxed and non-judgmental session in which we are getting to know each other and establishing rapport. This session should be a introduction and a means to gauge if I will be a 'match' for the client. I do realize I will not always be a "match" and this will be the time for client's to address any of their concerns and needs from therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel my greatest strengths as a provider are my ability to meet clients where they are! I always tell my clients my therapeutic approach is to just be myself, "Real". I have had over 10 years of experience with all types of clients and what I have learned, they want someone who is not only "clinical" but approachable and personable! That is how I would describe myself and if that style meets the need of what clients are seeking, then I'm their person!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have utilized CBT as a therapeutic method for over 10 years, to assist patients with understanding their triggers and stressors that lead to irrational or negative thought process. I assist patients with identifying appropriate coping strategies and techniques to reduce or alleviate the mental health symptoms associated with the triggering events or negative thinking.

Strength-Based

I have utilized this method of treatment for over 10 years, to encourage and help patients learn how to identify protective factors (strengths) or supports that are already in existence in order to help patients with participating in their own treatment plan and goals (more of a person-centered approach) to promote the ability to feel empowered and in control of their mental health, by encouraging the patient to start with using the strengths they possess.
